so ive been to like most of the class forums and i just started my ranger last nite but yet when i come here i see like no ranger vids of pvp or pve ? wats up with tht i wanna kno how engame is like and so on maybe thier are vids of pvp pve here in this forum idk maybe if some 1 can link it to me that will be great xD

The reason for the lack of videos is because a) Rangers aren’t particularly strong in high level tPvP play, so you don’t see a lot of high level players playing them, and b) even when they do, it’s not particularly interesting to watch.

Rangers are one of the easiest classes in the game to play. A huge amount of their gameplay consists of picking a target, spamming 1 on that target, and dodging/blowing defensive cooldowns when appropriate. This isn’t to say that Rangers require no skill, they’re just not that interesting to watch because there’s not that much they can actually do in comparison to, say, a really well played Thief, Mesmer, or Elementalist.

If you want to know what Ranger will be like at endgame, go to the Heart of the Mists, create a build, and test it on dummies or against NPCs or in sPvP.

Since you asked for videos, here are a couple by Ayra. He mains a Guardian/Warrior, but he made a couple videos of him playing a Condition Trap build Ranger in tPvP. He’s a solid player and he has an adorable voice. Enjoy.

On the PvE side of things, here’s a video of me soloing the Mad King on my supportish ranger build. It’s uncut so the video is a bit long, but so long as you like Apocolyptica it shouldn’t be too terrible.

Defeating the Mad King the first time gets you a 10 slot bag and your choice of halloween stuff (plastic fangs, chattering skulls, etc). After that you get personalized trick or treat bags and again, your choice of halloween stuff. I think there’s some diminishing returns on repeat kills.

There’s also a chest on the bottom level after you kill him. No idea if there’s any DR there. I’ve looted the chest five times and never got anything over a green quality item. Either it’s not that great or my luck stinks.

I’ve been contemplating doing some recordings, but not sure :P

xD ranger is a great class imo just other people dnt see it that way sadly lol

Mandatory is the 30 skirmishing to extend trap condition duration (Doubles a flame traps big damage) – which in my book = mandatory A knight rune for slightly more HP.

the 22KHP version – this one sacrifices 600 toughness for a larger health pool. Again 30 skirmishing mandatory for reason above. Wilderness survival is your condiiton points and since your loading up on traps and haste probably condition removal from 30 WS. (can play without that and without 30 by using Healing Spring)

It caries higher base damage(Better pet damage as a result) but crits substantially less than the 15K HP version. Conditions don’t crit so thats a are you using rune procs question. It also having less toughness gets less benefit from undead runes perhaps people use others. I seem to see more 22K hp videos out than the 15-16KHP.

I don’t play these alot so there may be some subtleties I missed.

Pretty much your a damage delivery system in either build.

I’ve also seen 30 skirm support trap builds running shaman amulet and I think dwayna runes.

Weapons Energy(Your either squishy with 22K HP or slighly harder with 15 you need energy on swap for dodge on the offhand at least.
