Archer’s are always my favorite class in every mmo.. but in this game I feel so hurt with the ranger u dont even understand..

The archer in this game does not exist actually…now the ranger is a paladin and cleric mixed.. WHICH is very boring and takes the role of the ranger.

Why ranger specialization should be a " Healer"? why??!! wtf is this… It has to do something with the history? because it’s ridiculous!!!

Why don’t you play it as a dps oriented archer? It’s one of the strongest wvw roamers in the game.

The amount of projectile hate in the game now makes archery unwise. Not to mention, if you aren’t running Druid have fun with the sustain meta, as core Ranger has little sustain.

Not to say you can’t have fun at it, but I agree with TC…it seems ‘Ranger’ atm is S/D + Staff….

His damage is decent with Greatbow but let’s talk about his survival style? really bad.

I know that the druid makes a different change… but steals the role of ranger completely.. Making it look like a " different class "

You see few rangers in WVW they are unnecessary nowadays and most are new people in the game…

So the Devs wanted to make the ranger a healer completely ?, but if there are other classes that can take that role better.. like elemental.. guardian, enginner..

Honestly… zerk and/or valk lb/staff (or gs/staff) druid running shouts can be an amazing roamer/havoc member, providing excellent dps, sustain, ally buff, etc.

That is not a ranger. That is a longbow using druid. I feel you dear OP (as I myself love the concept of archers but there are no archers in this game, and I think there will never be. So either play longbow ranger or dragon hunter to satisfy your playstyle, or just try something entirely different.

What are you talking about? You’re lamenting the absence of archers in the game, but then turning your nose up at the best archer in the game, which also happens to be an excellent build relative to all classes.

The OP made a comment about not wanting to be a healer with the druid. Fine, don’t be one. The druid offers more than just healing.

I have been running ancient seeds-lb-gs for quite long. I know what you meant but if your opponent is not a total idiot, you will be forced to swap weapon quickly. And there is a hardcore projectile/ranged hate in this game.

Maybe don’t follow the meta blindly, have the courage to go out there and actually learn to play ranger . It’s a devastating class in the right hands and build diversity is extraordinary ( most pets sucks though)

1) You cannot expect to pewpew 24/7, the ranger is a devastating class because can swap from melee to range without losing pressure and the swapping it’s not random

2) You actually need to know how to counter other professions

I run the same exact build in PvP and own left and right every 1vs1, I cover a different role respect to staff druid which is a pure healer but I still can hold my own against anybody and with the potential of killing every single meta out there

You’re nuts. Ranger is the most powerful it has ever been. It has never had higher DPS. Want an archer? Just use the Meta fractals LB build. Ya know, full zerker, LB, Sw and axe or Warhorn. MM, SK, DR. How is that a weak archer?

Which meant they intend to allow all profession to fullfill any role : healer, tank, support, melee dps and range dps. What more do you want in an archer than what Supreme has in his linked video above?

Elementalist can cast from backline, uses a staff, has tons of aoe, and works very, very well. But it is not a mage in the classic sense. No profession in this game uses the archetypes to its potential, and ranger is only one of them. Ranged combat is not designed for an archer archetype. Ranger is the one eyed man in the land of blind.

If you want an archer, you have 3 classes with access to longbow, and two with short bow. Ranger is a lot more than just an archer. That’s just one of its wide choice of weapons. We are not defined by a single weapon. People need to move past this erroneous idea.

I’d be more than happy to kill you using a LB ranger, OP.

Yeah – I’m struggling with this one. Unless I’m missing something a long bow, and even short bow, is composed of a piece of wood or stick with a string connecting the ends Unless you are equipping two melee weapon sets, which is fun btw, you are in fact playing an Archer…

The Druid is not a Paladin (typically heavy armor – see Guardian) nor healer unless you gear and trait for it. Armor, runes, accessories, and sigils do not need healing stats. Same has the food you consume.

Note 1: Don’t fight Fluffball – he will kill you

Note 2: Ranger/Druids have the longest range in the game using LB @ 1500

Note 3: Yes, it does seem everyone has reflect….firing blinding in a zerg is what we call thinning the heard and seperates “good” rangers from “average” ones. Don’t be that Ranger – look at the annimations before firing blindly.

Looks like the glroious pvp track chest piece. And agreed, that was a kitten fine montage. Minus the music choice. But yeah, GG and sound advice.

I feel you OP. I’ve resigned to the fact that, as much as I love rangers in RPG’s, I won’t be able to get my fill from GW2. So I’m playing other RPGs for that

In WvW, Ranger may be a devastating class, but in organized PvE content, it is non-existent. This is extremely sad. I have even been told by several life -long GW/GW2 players that the ranger class is a “support class and not a dps class”. And yes, this is playing it properly as Anet intended, i.e., mixing bow and melee. I weep for my rangers. I play them in world content so that I can enjoy them, then get on my ele, engi or rev for organized content … sad panda …

when you see a DH attacking with the LB at melee range all the time instead swap you know there is something wrong there.
The guy is not great either, that minute were he takes out the DH trapped in his roots using PBS was cringeworthy….

No one would watch a montage of failure. Or rather, make one of themselves in that role. It does show those players exist by extension.

People act like only pros play WvW and bad players are super rare and never happen so this video doesn’t count.

I don’t know why everyone tries to dismiss everything by saying “but they were bad players”. Okay.

Come on man. Us mere mortals can only dream of aspiring to your level of greatness whereby our every rotation on every class is perfect every single time always.

Solution for this would be to fix/rework shortbow so that players would be able to respec towards a hunter/archer profession and not “force” us to spec as a support class.

I have been trying shortbow for a time, and it is not that bad if you use a hybrid build. But it is not close to any druid builds.

What you taking about? Zerk Longbow is super strong in WvW. In pve i’d rather run condition, though.

20 second pet swap, 20 second WHaO!, 60 second pulsing pre-nerf SotP! -> no Beast Mastery

Super long boon duration and Protection + Weakness on hit, Vigor on pet swap -> Nature Magic

Druid trait line is pretty rigid in that you want 1, 1, 3 if you run LB.

You’ll probably want sigil of concentration as well, and boon duration foods.

There’s random resistance + protection so it’s Durability runes. The boon duration from this set also makes sense.

I would say Commander armor, but it can also be just Marauder + Berzerker if you really want to go ham.

This guy switches stuff around like the Warhorn trait, TU heal, Entangle, Sic ’Em etc. and I think any player that likes his/her class should experiment.

That’s an educated guess, I’ve only recently started playing Mender Druid in PvP (Gold-3 scrub).

You don’t really need someone to post a link if you watch the game play carefully, plus, people really need to learn how to make their own builds, not just cut and paste other peoples trait and gear choices because YMMV.

I build a lot more defensively and tanky than most of the good players who post videos, because I simply do not have the reaction time to deal with burst builds, so me running someone elses glass build will only end in frustration. Make your own build and adjust it to suit your own playstyle, taking into account all facets that are needed for being effective; Offensive damage output, defensive damage reduction, condition removal, break stuns, CC, mobility, buffs and sustain. Everyone will want slightly different for each to suit themselves.
