is it just me?
Mate it’ s not only you.
It’ s the ranger class that is broken. We are 1000 steps behind other classes…and we can’ t do anything.
Try change profession mate..or game. Rangers in guild wars 2 are bad since day 1. And nothing will change.

Too poorly written, didn’t (couldn’t) read. Honestly, trunks you have the worst spelling and grammar I have ever seen. Try forming sentences and using punctuation.

sorry about that.i have always been bad at spelling and grammar even when i use spell check i pick the wrong word most of the time.
Ranger condi removal is AMAZING. Seriously.
Also, with the current state of the game it makes a lot of sense to run a glassy pet and a more tanky utility pet. Have your tanky pet out to start fights. This is the pet that can survive a mesmers opening burst. The pet that doesn’t instantly drop in the team fight. Then you have your pet that does a ton of dmg ready to jump out the minute you want to drop your target.
Easy. Problem solved.
And seriously. Condi removal? We are AMAZING.

Sorry mate, I didn’t mean offense, but for me it is just so bad, although I’m pretty pedantic about that sort of thing.
Ranger is easy to pick up, but very hard to master as we have few get-out-of-jail-free cards like the most played meta classes, so there is less room for error. Ranger is definitely handicapped in this regard, but a good player can do well with it, if you enjoy playing Ranger style, stick to it. Also, several other classes are not balanced at all right now and makes it so that Ranger is further behind.
@ jewishjoyride.
It is not particularly amazing when you were used to having Empathic Bond, SoTF and HS all working at once on the same build. Now, HS doesn’t work and you can’t take both traits at once.

no need to be sorry it is what it is
In WvW the ranger feels great! Though, survivability in WvW is proportional to time spent in WvW.
I play necro a lot in WvW too; both classes get hammered in these forums and yet they feel strong to me out in WvW. But then I know the format really well and don’t try to do too much stupid kitten.
Since the trait change I’ve been really surprised by the shortbow in my power build, so I do greatsword/shortbow and float behind the frontline, immobing all-the-things, skirmishing, abusing piercing concussion shot… oh it’s great. I’d still say doing well is more down to experience than anything though, because if you do stupid kitten then you’re dead no matter what.
My favourite lulz moment recently was my dog taunting a stealthed thief to reveal himself, getting instantly immobed by the dog and then exploding as everyone jumped him. So dirty!
Once SoTF was introduced I stopped using Empathic Bond entirely. There was literally no reason. Healing Spring currently works just fine for condi removal. Takes 1 off every second. Double healing spring takes off 2 each second lol. Signet of Renewal is still a very stong utility that is capable of shifting the balance of a fight. Shouts!!! Having a shout heal and elite on your bar at a minimum makes soldier runes worth it. With 2 low cd elites Lyssa runes are a good option for rangers also.
And don’t forget Brown Bear!!!!!
Seriously. I pretty much have only been running 2 survival 3 shout skill builds with soldier runes recently. When you die, it won’t be in a 1v1 with a condi class.

When we had both EB and SoTF with a Healing Spring that immediately triggered, I could have 3 condi roamers focus me and survive to be able to kill them all. That was with DPS gear, pets, runes and food. GL with that now. Taking 3 shouts, Brown Bear, only two survival skills with WK and soldier runes seems like a very low DPS option, comparatively.
And seriously. Condi removal? We are AMAZING.
We used to be. We aren’t anymore.
When we could get both Empathic Bond AND Wilderness Survival – those were the fine times. Now the only condi removal that counts we get is on 60 second cooldown or a grandmaster trait that forces you to blow all utility slots for Survival skills or Kills your pet instead of you – making you semi-useless.
We are “amazing” in condi clear only if we:
Bring Signet of the Renewal, Healing Spring, rest Survival skills, Bear Pet and Sigils for condi clear/transfer.
And that means being useless in everything but condi clear (because you’ll die to everything else) and still not being immune to condis – so well played condi build will kill you anyways.
the class gained more Hp sustain and lost a little to no condi removal just think about your build more Carefuly.
healing spring is bugged right now it doesnt heal the pet so the pets lost a lot of health sustain in that skill.
try Maruader runes and Rune of the defender in Pvp with your Pvp build im taking a guess that is the old classic LB/GS with SoS in a glass set up .
take timbre or nature magic and wilderness if you want more class health sustain gain regen on both pet and you using rune of the defender through nature magic will give your pet Aegis+regen for every block which will clearly help the pet stay alive and the wilderness like with Oakheart should let you tank a little more damage.
Wilderness knowledge and Evasive Purity + sigil of purity is enough condi clear more than enough i’;ve played with less at one point i only used Evasive purity with poison master during one of my test builds , they way i see it is the faster you kill the less condi clear you have at your disposal , though if you build for more health sustain the pet gets stronger and you get weaker though you gain more sources of condi clear like i pointed out Wilderness knowledge and Evasive purity then add in SoR if you must.
in my personal opinion after testing so many builds even those with 1 condi clear and lots of evades , i found condi clears on ranger are Fine balanced and taking SoR,Hs,all the survival skills , a Bear and sigils is totaly overkill unless you are being Focused like a dog in WvW.
Zenos gets it. Trait line’s are no longer tied to stats. Look at Talgo’s ranger build that he won that esports thing with. 0,0,6,6,6. Defensive, utility oriented stat spread. Throw a glass ammy on and your damage is still fine. Taking a rune set that is more defense or utility oriented is really not gimping our damage.
Oh and Heimskarl, when you actually get to jump back in game and play try a remorseless setup with valk stats. You can pop 10k mauls on squishy targets all day. With a brown bear. And soldier runes. Thanks Mistsim!
I understand why new and experienced rangers feel this way. the truth is, while the ranger needs many improvements, you’re probably running inefficient builds. inefficient means that you’re so busy surviving that youre not doing any damage, or that youre doing so much damage that you’re not surviving, and feeding instead. think about that a bit. in my sig you can find the 3 most competitive builds for spvp, so start with that.
the other major tip I can give is learn to use the GS and stop trying to achieve everything with the LB. the difference between good and amazing thieves is the shortbow play. similarly for rangers, the difference between good and amazing rangers is the GS play. the glory days of the LB are actually over, in spvp at least, because the weapon is counterplayed hard. and it will get only worse when elite specs come out along with their projectile block spam.
