Got my ranger up to level 80 now I would like to try pvp

I use longbow /greatsword

I would like loads of toughness
Vitality and if possible power as I am not very quick

Anyone know of any build that could work

ehhh well, its more Greatsword focused, but you could go for valk amulet and do 6/2/6/0/0, use signet of stone, and make sure you have sigil of intelligence and possibly fire on your Greatsword.

take the usual suspects in MM, Primal reflexes in skirmishing, and take Wilderness Knowledge, Empathic bond, and whatever else you prefer in Winderness Survival

@Caritas Yo mate, Ranger has been my favorite class since release after having break from Gw2 and returning I was so happy that my Longbow / GS got some love. I have tried various build around Read of Wind talent and made my own which suits my style.
It has good survivability, good health pool 22k almost and 2 stun breakers and condition removals from talents and signet. Still you got lots of burst and very high upkeep of fury (20% crit) I love this build.

The thing with power longbow, in my opinion, is that it works best as glass. I’ve tried various setups, both meta and of my own design. The 626 version feels the weakest to me, as that little bit of extra toughness is not worth what you’re giving up for it in return when compared to what the other trait variations can give you.

The Survival of the Fittest version I easily find is the most “beginner friendly,” due to the extra vitality, good active condi cleansing, and easy Poison and Blindness purge via Evasive Purity. On top of that, SotF gives you Fury whenever you use a Survival skill, so if you take Muddy Terrain as the third utility skill, you’ll have good uptime on that boon to boost the lack of points into the Skirmishing traitline.

If you really, really want something with a lot of toughness though, I’d say you’re better of playing a condition build on your ranger, as they generally run Rabid or Settler amulet, which stack tougness, and must go 6 points into Wilderness Survival.

PTV (Power, Toughness, Vitality) I don’t see working out very well for a longbow spec in PvP, seeing as it just can’t deliver the same kind of pressure as a glassy longbow ranger.

If you go for power build like ranger you do not expect to be a tank. If you want best survivability or being tank you go Spirit Ranger to get proper support. Other option I find bit lacking currently. Condi is fun but not for me.

I do not agree that Survival of the Fittest is most noob friendly because having this extra health is not what breaks or make this build and does not make it easier or harder. By running more glassy version you choose something it does not make more complicated or more skill based especially that difference is not that big.
By having high upkeep of fury you mitigated loss of damage from more glass versions so you do not loose much. You gain very good condi removal which is problem for Rangers. But for me you gain a lot defense compare to other builds but it does not make you a tank or semi tank by any means

Muddy terrain is option but I feel it is not needed because you have high enough upkeep from sharpening stones, Lighting reflex and entagle other then that it does not bring enough to justify using it. That is my personal opinion but it depends of style if you like kiting a lot then maybe but I would say is more WvW thing.
