Most the times i’ve been ressed in Baruch is being ranger or druids. Most by a big margin even in PvE … While other players just ignore you.. Is just my server or a thing?
Of course i mean others than the commanders or people i know from ts… (Baruch has a great community of players, we are spaniards and latin american who doesn’t love that)

Agree, 75% of the time it will be a ranger who rezzed me, I also play ranger and it’s my first priority to rez when I see someone down.

This is on Dragonbrand NA.

While playing Unbound Gaursian in Bloodstone Fen which is not a boss to stand back and pewpew from the sidelines.

Definitely notice in these big boss fights that’s there’s normally only 4-5 people who do rez, me being one so when I’m downed it does take a while because i can’t rez myself…..

Because no matter how badly you trash talk us, no matter how much you despise us, no matter how much you don’t want us in Dungeons, Fractals, or PvP …. we still care enough about you to scrape you off the floor.

Think it has to do with us proving that we are an asset to the team, since we used to be considered worthless before then. Take up the tasks that people usually wouldn’t want to do; like how I learned how to solo the thermal room in Thermanova Reactor fractal and how I could control Mai’s agro with a Bear before they changed the fractal entirely. That’s my take on it since most Ranger mains tend to be masochistic after all of the abuse Anet has given us.

I happened to rez a bunch of people yesterday in wvw when our zerg was hitting keeps. I even hard rezzed a few since the wall had been closed behind us.

I was doing my normal thing of picking off players trying to run and join their zerg, picking off thieves, etc., this meant I was breaking combat often since I wasn’t trying to tag the whole enemy zerg.

If someone did try and stop me from rezzing I would use my pets to slow them down, and pop SoS to absorb their burst. If a group tried to bomb me I could stealth and take cover in my zerg making them lose target.

I think my personal reason for rezzing is just because it fits my playstyle of sticking to the fringes.

I rez with all my characters, however, I feel there is truth to this. I’m a glass ranger and as long as no one is pew pewing my direction, I’ll certainly lend a hand to get you back on your feet…because, well…I’m right there. hahaha.

I rez people solely for selfish purposes- it builds Celestial force

May be due to being used to having to rez our own pets manually instead of just switching them.

But it’s true though that I always get out of my way to rez someone, and very often it leads to both of us dying but wtvr

I can only speak for myself, but I suspect there are many like me.

I’m a very casual player. Sitting on the edge of my seat and pushing just the right buttons is not my thing. As most know, a ranger may be the easiest to play when it comes general PVE.

Don’t get me wrong, I just don’t auto attack and let my pet do all the work. Then again….sometimes I do…..:) It just depends on my mood and situation. Again, I’m a casual player.

My theory is rangers attract people like me. We know were not the best as far as DPS but we usually stay alive. So its in our best interest to rez, and being casual and not always liked, we enjoy rezzing, especialy when you get a ty or thanks.

People like me just like to play the game, accumulate riches and get a thanks now and again.

Always been a natural healer and I guess a lot of my types of players gravitated towards Druid when it came out. I always try to res people when I see them downed because we’re supposed to be working together and not be selfish concerned only for our own DPS numbers.

I must admit it annoys me a little, when my character is downed and someone has their character standing right there, just auto-attacking away.

I try to help out with downed characters as much as possible. It’s just nice to help out.

i rarely get killed and when i do there is nobody to ress me in wvw.

But in the rare scenarios it happens to me before my team\zerg dies if the commander doesn’t say so, it is mostly a ranger\druid who takes the time to ress other people.

Not even the thiefs with all their stealth bother to do it. So yeah, my impression is despise all the wrong doing the main rangers will be willing to spend the time to ress someone.

maybe because of the pet that makes the players conscientious of the word team? Who knows, but i’m grateful.

Well written and observed. I like your honesty.
This is something I have noticed for a while now and over multiple games even. Ranger, just like all other classes, attracts a certain type of player.
The majority of Guild Wars 2 Ranger players are rather casual. They will mostly do Open World stuff and enjoy this safe and easy approach there. Many pick very defensive traits and utilities along with defensive gear even when staying at a long range to the boss or any target. They are there to have fun and enjoy what they do. They want others to have fun and allow others to continue to have fun.
Just as you said, they will mostly find themselves in the backlines and fully healed because of it. They are in the perfect position to support the overall goal by ressing downed players. It is something the more tanky, supportive and less damage focused players should do. Probably why so many end up doing it.
You need to keep something in mind, though. DPS does matter in quite a few of the encounters. All of us have had our time wasted by a failing event at one point or another. Those that worry about being able to kill the bosses in time will focus on damage dealing. The scaling depending on how many people come to help is a blessing and a curse. If too many, too defensive players with very low damage join in then others will have to make up for that greatly. The same thing can be said about the breakbar. It always feels like most do not use any form of CC when needed. Therefor being focused on success and optimization does not make a you a bad person.

Also, I wrote this while having mostly played Druid myself for months now. Been missing the dedicated healer role forever before Druids were introduced. It is something that pushed the class towards the less casual players. Not that those didn’t exist before of course.
My priorities are to heal others, to ress the downed and then even to ress the dead. In that order. Don’t think that makes me anymore of a good person than the Tempest trying his hardest to reach the required DPS in his full glass gear to allow everyone to succeed and get rewards.

Let’s not go overboard with the flattery, quite often it’s necros saving your kitten . Hell in pve i often run blood magic instead of spite squarely because without transfusion to mass ress ppl, it’s a bloodbath at bigger bosses or some fractal runs..

Most of us got the same playstyle in wvw, and thus are like minded. We love to kite into keeps/towers and longbow from there and within guards instead of doing anything risky in the field.

I main ranger. I never liked hunters in MMo-s, I’m mostly an assassin guy, but here in GW2 I like Ranger better than Thief. I always liked helping other people. In tera online I made a guild that had a primary directive of helping newbies lvl and gear up It was so much fun

Same here! I’m a casual player also and I’ve loved rangers in GW 1 and now in GW 2. They’re fun to play and can stay alive easier than meelee attackers. I also love collecting pets and exploring the game in PvE mode.

I do enjoy the safety of range and I like surviving in Soldier’s gear. But I also like to melee on my Ranger when the risk is lower.

I’ve always like cooperative play and healing. I’ve been a healer in WoW and other games; I was a healer Guardian in WvW. I just like to help people get back up, especially since we all need help sometimes.

So yeah, I was happy when I could also heal on my Druid. It means I can get all that I want on one main toon and really learn that profession.
