new to ranger~
Horn is decent. It’s also nice for getting around (I usually use gs/lb but I always have a horn in my inventory for using swiftness)
I hear if you use the horn #4 after Rampage as One, you’ll get a whole lot of might stacks on your pet. I’ve never really used it myself though (as said, I prefer gs/lb)
if I were you, I’d just pick whichever one you enjoyed the most
EDIT: though honestly from what I’ve seen, practically all the offhands for rangers are pretty decent.
about pets now
is there a way to stow a pet so it doesnt appear during combat? there are moments i would like to be without the help of pet and without it around at all, may sound strange when playing ranger
and is there a way to get pets without charming them? i would need to have a whole bunch of areas explored if not..
best thing to do , is learn to use the pet rather than stow it.
using warhorn 4 with sigil of strenght + high crit chance with 3 in nature magic(shared boons) will stack up to 16 might stacks, considering if you hit all with crits.
that comboed with compaions might your crits grant your pet might in the same manner, so with those your pet will hit 20-25 easily with only warhorn #4
it stands about 10-15 might on the ranger and near max on the pet.
using might duration runes will increase the size of the might stacks due to duration too meaning a long but extreamly easy to maintain in combat as every attack you crit with will give your pet two stacks of might.
1 from sword , 1 from trait and a bonus one from crit with sigil in a pattern of stacks, 2,2,3,2,2,3 each lasting 8secs with strenght runes each auto chain on sword 1 takes 1.25secs and grants 2 might min for 8secs.
over the 8secs you can stack that amount of might/time so around 10-13 without rampage as one or party buffs.
and yep you’ll have to work for your pets though they are very easy to find.

thanks for the replys!
Dagger, Warhorn or Axe are all great choices for an offhand on a Direct Damage build. I’d give them all a fair try if I were you.
In regards to pets.. the above are right. its best to learn to use it because it provides a lot of your utility or damage depending how you build.
Taking drakes is a nice way to learn to use pets, IMO, because they are very useful but also tanky so you wont have them dying every 2 seconds.
Gunnar’s Hold
i like birds and the ones that can find envivonmental stuff
PIGS
Who couldnt love the pigs…:)
Gunnar’s Hold
i think i like the dagger offhand, it has an evade, wich is pretty long , i mean u cast it, it takes 0.5 s to hit, then u got 0.5 s extra evade
and poison is always nice
anyway getting the pets gonna be a pain:(
imao pigs samoith with full nature magic is a troll and if you don’t need the plasma its a great buff to anyone else that can pic it up.
i generaly show off my pig pet when i use him for fights,
get the samoith out before the match starts and press f2 , in say chat get someone to pick it up and watch them cry with joy or alteast shrug his/her shoulders.
samoith pig is fun
but well.. someone got a nice power build for me? pvp/roaming
couldnt rly find one, preferably with a gs

this is the build I use when I roam in WvW
It’s not perfect min-max meta build style, but I enjoy playing with it
when i was building my ranger in pvp i always went 30 on top line to get the signet affects u as well, so that i could use the no dmg taken signet thingy, thats a bad idea then?
the signet of stone + signet of the beastmaster is (no offence intended) training wheels.
if you need it to survive, then go ahead and replace RTW and Lightning reflexes. I at one point used that too. but once you get the hang of the ranger, I cannot stress enough that you don’t need it to survive, and you will preform much better replacing it with more useful skills/traits (RTW and Lightning reflexes, in my build)
