I love my ranger and I am not saying in anyway shape of form that we are useless but yes we are useless when it comes to raid! Druid healer for VG yey that is all we get. Our condis or DPS is nowhere close to meta damage on warriors and or engies. Our support is ok but you can do it with revners and get more dps out of the deal. Good luck trying to run anything else besides healer support in raids and there is room for only 1 for that spot. Why can’t rangers have nice things? I made a warrior and running dps and or condis and it puts everything we do to shame! I would like to see what is Arena Net bringing to the table to make rangers useful in raids. Once again this is based upon elitist builds and groups that your ether part of and get stuff done right and fast the 1st time or pugging and doing 1 area for 3 hours because group is just as bad to even know where damage is lacking.

So far I have lvl 80 with full ascended armors and weapons Warrior, Ele, Guardian, Revrent, Thief and Mesmer. Ranger being my main and most beloved but nowhere out of all those listed do they have DPS even close to any of them. Makes me sad

Dude, at least we’re useful somewhere and accepted in most other modes. May not be better than other classes in terms of DPS, but what we bring to certain roles and support can be matched by no other.

For crying out loud, you have a Thief, which are hurting far more than Ranger is, especially in Raid content. Ever see Thief or Daredevil highly requested for Raids?

Ranger/Druid is in the raid meta, maybe not in the role you wanted but it is there.
Other classes are not in the meta at all, like daredevil.

Before HoT rangers were in no meta at all, now ranger has the healing spot in raids and actually doing pretty well in PvP, you’ll never see someone complaining about a druid in your PvP team.

which is really sad. the ranger had to become a healbot to be accepted, and not needed) in some niche content.

i’d like Aney to overhaul the ranger, as long as they keep the pet (but not the actual pet system) and the healing theme in the druid, i wouldnt mind to have to relearn to play it.
heck, i wouldnt even mind to have to do all the scavenger hunt for the pets if they change them so much that become useful (like the wolf or the smokedyno are) and adorable (like such a cute is the bristleback).

it could be a perfect excuse for all those players that stashed their ranger to reconect with a renewed class

after 3 years of neglect Aney own us that much.

nah i joke, atm Rangers are fairing pretty well and tbh i love it we wont see if base ranger will get any buffs til season 2, so i guess we’ll wait and see on that front, however someone had to become the healer realistically, why not the ranger, and tbh i wouldnt call em a heal bot, they’re capable of some DPS While healing.

I’m sorry but being usefull only as a healer is no good at all. that is not what why i rolled a ranger. Core ranger must be usefull and not stuck with a linear and boring healbot, because that’s what druid is: boring linear and completely unrelated with the ranger

Untrue. They were/are In dungeon meta (after icebow nerf) and are very useful in fracs.
@OP, please do me the favor and check the group buffs that ranger offers, then compare it to any class that isn’t warrior. Also, vC used ranger in meele in their last valeguardian kill which makes sense. Sword / axe +staff, full zerk ofc.

Yeah me neither, that is why ranger is not my main anymore, but I know that druid has its place.

Well, for me ranger will always be my main, no matter what. I play for fun and immersion, not to go along with what some “meta” says it’s better. The differences between damage potencial are not so big to disregard any profession. Besides, there are no damage metters in this game so most meta advertisements are just guesses and supositions.

I will agree, it’s kittened that we’re themed after healers. That was in no way what people rolled Ranger for to begin with.

I wish they’d just get rid of the pet entirely and switch its power to the rest of its kit.

I love my Ranger/Druid for every single thing it has/does… except the pet. Both because I’m not into the pet crap at all. I just want to play my kitten Archer (and sometimes stir the pot around with other builds).

I hate that every game has had the stupid idea of giving the ranger class a pet just because WoW did it.

Anyway, I obviously know that would be asking way too much. But they could at least rework the whole pet system and have it not be so terrible.

But right now, all I really REALLY asked was that, since the pet is quite literally useless in wvw blob fights, at least PLEASE LET US KEEP IT STOWED.
Every time I go into WvW I have to set it to passive mode because all the pet does is get in the way, aggroing stuff or giving the enemy another target to get me in combat.
I don’t get the kitten logic behind forcing us to have our pet out just because we get in combat. So ridiculous.

Did all three raid bosses as both druid healer and condi ranger. What the kitten are you complaining about?

Edit: we had a daredevil as well first time taking down Sabetha. People are to stuck up with what’s “optimal” and “meta”. Besides, there is no way they’re not going to cut off some of the burn warrior damage.

you did all bosses as condi ranger? any advice for a begginer raider? I have only done the vale guardian as condi ranger and I am looking forward to the next bosses.

Honestly, not really. Regardless of what build you’re running, learning the fights and properly sorting the roles and builds in your team is the most important thing. Sabetha is easy, as she doesn’t move out of your bonfire. Gorseval comes, again, down to knowing the fight.

Finding a good group to raid with that isn’t obsessed with stacking up on “optimal builds” is probably a good idea. And getting the best gear and nourishment possible, which is probably a given, but really important as a condi player.
