So I’ve been leveling a ranger lately and doing some pvp and i had the impression they take more time to get out of combat is it possible? Maybe because of the pet?

I mean it might just be an impression that’s why i’m asking if anyone else has notice

It’s probably your pet.

yes, if the pet is in combat, the Ranger will be forced into combat as well.

If you leave a fight with things there to still attack you pet will continue attacking until you get some distance away then you pet will teleport to you then you will go out of combat.

Get in to the habit of either recalling you pet to you (F3) or swapping pets (F4) just after you want to disengage form a fight and you will get out of combat quicker.

Also stowing you pet when you want to run through area can help you stop getting to to aggro as well. This is less of a problem then it use to be.

Thanks OP for bringing up this topic. I’m a rather inactive player and tend to play for 2-3 weeks and be away for months just to come again for another few weeks. Actually this is my first post on the forums, but that’s another topic.

I too have noticed this kind of problem and it sometimes takes double or even tripple the amount of time for me to get ouf of combat. My partymembers, 99,9% of the time guildmates and good friends, just “run away” from me because I can’t get out of combat.

Just for some further information:
I have my pet on defensive-mode in order to have more control and I’m using the F3 “get back to me”-command everytime my target is killed/whatever.
I have no conditions noticed on myself or the pet.
Nothing is attacking us (pet and me).
I don’t know how “bad or good” it was a few weeks/months ago, because I often can’t play for several weeks/months.

The weird thing is, it’s not always just sometimes and this can be really frustrating. If my “observations” aren’t completly off, this happens a lot more in smaller/cramped places compared to wider places/open fields. And this also happens while there are no enemies around, just after killing the last one.

Hope OP and I aren’t the only ones noticing this. On the other hand I tend to create/get the craziest bugs and “hidden features” in computer programms. Thanks to this I’ll probably keep my job forever.

Pets are bugged- if you send them into combat, and tell them to retreat using f3, and then run out of combat, once you’re out of combat, the pet will try to run back in on its own to fight.

Oh so it wasn’t just me
I’ve had that impression while playing spvp, cause usually with my thief it really takes just a few seconds after you get away to reset the fight while even if the pet is next to me sometimes it just stays in combat for really long times…

The problem is that I don’t want to swap pets to get out of combat, on the countrary i want to go out of combat so i can refresh health and eventually swap pet/weapon without starting the CD so i can quickly get in a new fight being fresh

It does seem that spamming F3 a bit while going away helps, but still sometimes it feels weird

I’ve been goofing off playing my thief lately and the difference is night and day. It really only takes a few seconds to get out of combat, where as on my ranger I have to run halfway across the map and then usually I have to stop moving before the reset will trigger.

Lol if your pet Re-engages combat after you recall it, you need to Detarget your target and Put it on passive then it won’t leave your side, don’t blame the pet as bugged when most of the time its the management of the player,.

Speaking of which, anyone else experiencing a pet perma-chill bug? I’ve seen two variants. One where it prevents me from going out of combat until I log. Another where I can go out of combat, but the pet’s F2 skill continues being chilled, even if I swap pets or go out of combat.

if your running 20% shorter f2’s or 10% shorter pet skills.
it shows as blue to represent the cooldown reduction , i think its still bugged and it only shows the cooldown change while incombat.

but it still shows the blue colour change while out of combat.
check to see if your pet does have a chill- de-buff, if not its the visual bugg still from those traits.

What some other people have mentioned, just get used to using your pet on passive and manually F1’ing and F3’ing it for control. You are (should be, can only speak for myself lol) much smarter than the pet on Guard and in particular instances like escaping combat when you need the pet to stop messing around with what you were trying to run away from, you will definitely notice a big difference when the AI isn’t on auto “attack everything that puts the player into combat forever until I or it dies.”

Maybe I made myself not clear enough, but I’m using Pet-Mode “passive” and I do use F1 and F3 probably more as 1 on my “champtrain-staff-guard”. Thanks for your tipps anyways.

Zenos I find your tone rather distrubing and kind of passive aggressive. I know probably 85% of the posts in this forum are from “unskilled” players, but you shouldn’t demote everyone from the beginning.

I’m pretty sure that OP knows how to play too.

well done Sherlock you solved the case, but yes the lol at the start put my comment in a different tone so sorry about that.

but yes the Radius or distance before disengaging combat is increased thanks to summoned elements still attacking or There are objects or targets still in It’s Combat radius so its mainly a game machanic.

i kind of like it , it adds flavour to the class.
