If the game had unique/rare pets that either had different skins or a completely unique model would people be bothered tracking them down and taming them? Or would it be a wasted gimmick only entertaining pet collectors with that “gotta catch em all” mentality?

Rangers would definitely tracked them down and camp their spawn sites. It’s just not the ‘catch ’em all’ mentality, but the ‘look what I got’ one.

I don’t think they’ll add unique pets anytime soon, but I would love it if they did.

I’d love pets that you captured and leveled up like in gw1. I also wish for the unique ones like the rainbow phoenix and panda.

would be cool if we could get stronger pets from living stories and such. Like say, giant pterodactyls from Zephyrs Sanctum (if it returns) or Reindeer from christmas events and the such. State wise, they should be similar to other pets, but their utilities should be stronger/better.

This is the one thing they shouldn’t do. It would be purely a pet for boasting rights. Having any sort of advantage would cause a lot of QQ.

Not to mention it would imbalance the ranger by making it a “necessary pet” that every build must have. If they do anything with a new unique pet, it needs to be a totally new family of pets. I’ve always said that the griffon family would make a good pet line. Colocials, the various griffons, basilisks, all of those could bring something unique to the table with their own unique attacks, which would solve the problem of them having one op skill that requires them to be used in every build. They could have the similar stats to the porcines, since the pigs seems to be in the middle ground of doing nothing in particular that’s strong or weak other than a knkittendown (which many griffons do)

rare/unique pet skin? Yes, please
rare/unique pet stats? Definitely no.

I would like to have the rainbow phoenix like I had in GW1, but having the same stats/skills as a red moa or an eagle bird for example.
