returning player...help pick class
70 views and no one willing to help out?
You really need to try both before you can decide which class suits you best, why don’t you roll an ele and a ranger and try them both out in the mists (PVP)? You don’t have to level your characters in PVP, all players start out at level 80 with access to the same gear, stats, and skills, so you can easily play a few hours on each to see how they feel to you.

Lol, yeah right…

They’re all cool, but you have to just try each one out. I love the ranger but I am fond of the guardian and engineer too. I find that thief can get very boring, the mesmer is alright but too weak for my style. Warrior is quite versatile, the necromancer is actually super unique IMO, the elementalist is alright. So… yeah its up to you (go ranger!).

Haven’t played the game/viewed the forum in over 2 months, but I’m doing so now just to tell you to look the other way. Pick another class. Better yet, pick another game until Jon Peters decides he’s done spending his life re-designing jellyfish.
Well… From a non-biased standpoint, Elementalist may have some stronger balance right now than Ranger. Don’t get me wrong, I melt faces with my Ranger, but from what I’ve heard people say that play both, Ele is easier to pick up and has a few more viable builds than the alternative. So if you’re not looking to deliberate and you just want to jump in and roll something, Ele mighhhht be a safer bet. Might.
I’d say if you’re willing to hop into some quick sPVP like everyone’s been saying, since it doesn’t really take much time investment. Give them each a few test drive matches, then see how you feel.
