We have weapon-based evades and some of the best passive condi-clenses in the game.

Plus, not the mention, a pistol thief is the least of a ranger’s worries.

No reason to fret about this.

as cool as that pistol update is, its actually a thief nerf in terms of WVW. The more people that play that build, the less perma stealth thief you will have to deal with. Its going to become an annoying troll thing, but what everyone really needs to worry about is 3 turret Engis. This is going to be RIDICULOUS

that IMMO isnt a big deal and pistol is weak. they can unload on you and you can shrug. all it did was make warriors a better partner for them. immo+warrior burst is a huge problem, but for the thief itself its just more trolling

Eh. It’s a short duration immobilize for 4 initiative. Too high of a cost to really be spammed for long and a P/P thief spamming immobilize isn’t dealing much damage.

Too many people crying about how pistol is a bad main hand so anet decided to buff it so that the thief can force you to just stand there while they pellet you to death because the class wasn’t easy enough as is.

I’d say maybe we aren’t shouting loud enough to get our weapon issues looked at but I don’t think that’s even possible.

Yeah I just got this game yesterday. I guess my 4381 hours on the ranger class and my Champion Hunter title means really nothing about my knowledge of the class.

It must be hard getting carried, thinking thieves are the bane of our existence. Thieves need buffs if anything.

We’ll have to face it Durz, Anet will never know what they’re talking about with Rangers until one or more members of their staff make a Ranger, level it to 80, and then play through sPvP, WvW, and every dungeon and fractal multiple times with different builds. Meaning we’ll never get balanced, since apparently it’s low priority for them to have staff members that are specialized in certain classes…especially since they fired the only talent who knew how it was for Ranger. No Anet, I will never forgive you for that.

i doubt that a lot of rangers will use Sic em just to counter 1 class or two. It’s a complete waste of skill slot. i run a spirit build and I couldnt afford to sacrifice one spirit just to give way for ’Sic Em.

Currently, a thief is the least of a ranger’s issue but with that buff that thieves will have, a ranger will be underpowered for sure. Sic Em reveal is a big joke.

Umm.. a thief can immob you for 3 seconds with that shot before running out of ini.. then venom (if anyone plays a venom build) 5 or so more seconds. I Don’t know if many will play venom builds as they are low dmg and doing a thieves guild burst with it is only ever three minutes…

Have to agree with him here, this will be used as a very last effort to keep runners from a group fight from getting away. I really don’t think there’s that much to worry about.

Understandable, I just get irked when people use game play time as a measure of experience when I myself have clocked more hours than I care to think about just standing around akitten LA/mists and messing around on my phone waiting for (pretty sure bugged) wvw queues to pop lol.

But Rangers do have Empathic Bond, which is a pretty powerful albeit low skill ceiling condi-clense. If you read what I said, I said we have the best “passive” condi-clense, and that surely is no lie at all. I agree we need more active condi-clensing that directly removes conditions on demand (Signet of Renewal counts I guess, but 48s traited is still bad), but you should have made that more clear instead of personally offending me. It’s hard to not be offended by your comments when you so arbitrarily post, making me assume what you’re thinking while questioning my experience as a backbone to your argument. Can we just talk about Rangers instead of hitting me with ad hominem?

Also, I’m still going to reiterate and defend my original stance: our weapon evades define our class when built properly. No serious player ignores this. Playing ranger is absolutely easy against a thief, end of. You’re immobilized? Chew your Stalker, Serpents, Quick Shot. The only time you’d ever have to use your weapon-based evades is when you are rooted, because you know you can safely anticipate an enemy burst while they think you’re vulnerable.

Rangers can build tanky with Forge runes and Settlers ammy, earning high regen + toughness, while birds burst for them. You’re right, the weapon-evades alone don’t do everything. But stacked with our other defensive mechanics it’s a downright joke to even consider a Thief being stronger than us.

If you’re having trouble against thieves then that’s your prerogative. No other decent Ranger would ever have a problem with a thief.

E/ Also, are you discreetly implying that because Mesmers have distortion they are somehow stronger than us in tpvp? Just because a profession has a class mechanic that gives them invulnerability doesn’t make them better than us. Try playing a Mesmer in this current meta, people laugh at that kitten.

Pistol immobilize(4 ini) + unload(5 ini) = 9 initiative. Leaving us with 3 initiative.
No thief would do that. Instead they could do 2 unloads for 10 initiative.

Did anyone tried this? i’ve got it on my mind for quite a time now…i still wait for patchnotes to see changes on bear, because they said bear removing only one condition was not cool enough so we can have hope to see it changed today…
