one of the upcoming changes outlined in ready up Ep 32 was a new Beast mastery grandmaster trait called “Beastly Warden” which causes pet F2 abilities to cause “Taunt” which causes targets to involuntarily move towards the caster.

the fear will be telling the enemy to run away and the taunt will be telling the enemy to come closer!

sooo my question is, if a wolf uses howl, which way will the enemy go?

I don’t think anyone (outside of the developers) know. When they first revealed taunt the necromancers had some discussion about it (being surprise there), but other than speculation nothing really happened there perhaps we could flag down a forum specialist to collect a ’How does the mechanic work?" report to give the developers and maybe they could have a brief stream on those mechanic question as they effect everyone not just one profession or game mode.

Yeah, I had the same question. My guess is taunt will override fear. Or they get rooted in place and auto attack…

I added a mechanic question thread over in the pvp subforum (only place outside of the necromancer subforum I can think to get a specialists attention) so maybe there will be an answer soon.

Also, will you need two stun breakers to get out of it?

What about taunt + immobilized. Taunt will surely act like a cover condition.

immobilise is final over rides stun breaks and fears from the charater movement , so yes Immobilise will overwrite the movement of taunt but the combo will lock the charater down just like the current Immobilise+fear.

though you won’t really need to stun break taunt in that situation you can just AA Roots if its entangle other options would require a stun break to use a condi clear to remove immobilise same as the immobo+fear combo is solved by stun break>clear or AA roots.

Taunt and fear are both conditions and status effects.

Status effects overwrites each other. So if you get stunned, and then you get dazed. The daze overwrites the stun. You can test this out in the game.

Taunt and fear will do the same thing.

I wouldn’t be taking Beastly Warden with a Wolf anyway, the CD on it is 15s and the Wolf’s F2 is kitten (-20% reduced to 36) so this would be much more effective on Birds or pets with lower F2 CDs.

It should be noted that the icd could (probably will) change so that has to be at least thought about when speculating.

I love this trait. It’ll give similar control power of a wolf to every pet if traited.

Who knows? Maybe the brown bear will be a viable choice for builds who lack condi clear as it’ll have the group condi clear without sacrificing a powerful control skill.

I’ll be enjoying it with my river drake. Might be a solid way to land that Lightning Breath more reliably for a change.

It’s just a shame that Rending Maul is utterly skritt.

One thing is certain, for max effect, you don’t want to use Taunt in conjunction with; Weakness, Fear, Chill, Cripple or Immob.
