just toying with the idea a bit, let me know what you think before I test it out after work.

the idea would be to pre-set your spirits out of harms way. there are a lot of ways on this build to get might for both you and the pet but the pet is going to be the important part of your dps. oakheart salve will synergize well with the pulsing regen from water spirit, giving very high regeneration uptime so a high uptime on the 5% dmg reduction. pair that with pulsing protection and proccing protection from the stone spirit for more tankyness.

the combination of condi and power damage should be nice as well.

Healing Spring is a better source of regen, stronger heal, has incredible condition removal potential, and is a water field for your sword skills to splash around in. Far better heal than the spirit. With Healing Spring you can probably get rid of Signet of Renewal for Signet of Stone/Protect Me for more damage mitigation.

Is this for PVE or PVP?

Yeh I wouldn’t bother with frost or stone either. The damage increase is too small to notice, and protection is far less useful in this burst meta.

What I am finding good is untraited sun spirit.

Place it near mid and let the whole team enjoy extra burn stacks with no trait investment from yourself.

this is an idea for sPVP, a side point controller type. I was thinking spirits just because if you can hold out long enough for a +1 or go mid with your team the spirits not only help you but support the team a bit.

Spirits are more for group play than single player bunkering. That said the traited Stone Spirit does give all allies in it’s radius perma protection. It’s a pretty strong effect. The downside is that it’s hard to get your allies to stay in range of the spirits to get their effects and that any smart enemy will take the five seconds necessary to destroy said spirits that can’t defend themselves.

Stone+Fire gives your team a strong defensive boon along with lots of burning stacks though. So it may be worth it. You could also take the elite spirit for passive healing, the condi removal, and the ability to revive yourself if you time it right just as you go down. Plus maybe the pulsing stability will eat a stray crowd control now and again.

Spirits might make a decent Lord Guard build for Stronghold with that set up. Only time will tell.

just played it in spvp and while i like the burn stacks from the spirit it seems to go down rather quickly, i’m not sure how much different that would be when traited. i switched sun spirit for flame trap as test but this basically makes it a celestial trap ranger which i’m not too sure about. I never tested the original config with all spirits but i may do that after this match. i’m curious how a cele trapper would do.

keep trying and get better at spirit placement .

places not to plant spirits.
near bottom of stairs
near Edge of nodes around the kiting points or locations where mesmers/thiefs can port up these are prime locations for Aoe’s
Do not place in open view on the ground where there is high ledges above aka spirit watch use the tunnel as less Aoes are placed in that locations as most Aoes on spirit watch are place on node or at bottom of the stairs not much fighting happens inside the tunnel which the spirits radius can still reach the middle node if placed just behind the arch way.

for offensive spirits like sun spirit do not place it on point but place it in kiting locations e.g on foe fire on the raised ledge on mid above the Grave stones slightly back , Melee cleaves can not reach here , only ranged and then if you decide to kite up to this location it gives you a second to trigger the sun spirit while the other player climbs the grave stones.

for spirits like Stone spirit doing the same is of use on the stairs or slightly to the left or right to avoid most smaller Aoes/cleaves from team mates getting hit while retreating to a back cap , at this time you can use its active to catch the chaser and repostion the spirit to the other stair case.

basicly look for Dead zones near the cap nodes of which the opposing team have no reason to go to but are still within Reach of half the node that way any team mate kiting left to right of the node will gain the spirits benifits untill they return to the side the spirit is on.

i’ve learned of a few dead zones while playing Pvp in the past i did not use Moving spirits just because they would be cleaved dead anyway but now i know where these dead zones crop up its made my skills using spirits much more effective.
