what Ranger traits should be baseline?
None. A reduction in the dead pet swap penalty is all.
Baseline:
LB and SB projectile speed increased by 100%
LB and SB range (1500 and 1200)
Pet swap cd reduction
Pet move speed 30%
Torch 5 radius
Baseline when picking Wilderness Survival:
Shared Anguish (Replace Shared Anguish with Hide in Plain Sight, move Hide in Plain Sight to adapt trait)
- Nature’s Vengeance
- Honed Axes’ Winter’s Bite AOE
Didn’t list the radius increase on Trapper’s Expertise since Anet made a note to possibly make it a baseline for traps.

We already got some of those coming, but I think 20% additional base run speed would be nice for our pets, then you would have agility training from the BM line to add to it. Then pets would be the same speed as GW1.

Edit: no, I am wrong. Faster attack speed. I don’t think catching people would even change anything, they have to attack once they catch people.

Yes. Or the ability to attack while moving, either way.
My current WvW BM build is based around cripple which keeps the target eating the pet damage, but that’s pretty much the only way it’s possible.
Too bad we also lose that cripple for a weakness after the changes too…
They have already said that the Rangers base line will be Increase LB range to 1500.

Agree, I don’t think there are any traits we should get for free, but there are many improvements to traits (merging), mechanics for pets etc that would be a good QoL.
Yeah. The traits presented with the Ranger specialization doesn’t have many traits that can be made a baseline since they are actual traits (if that makes sense). Most of the traits that extended weapons or utilities in some way were made baseline across most classes.
As Heim said, some of the Ranger traits fall more in the line of needing improvements. This is a good thing to say since what they did make baseline were nice choices and a +1 to the class’s QoL.

Give pets super speed and quickness till next attack lands if they fail attack (blind,evade,kiting) 3 times or land no attack for 5sec.
And call it enrage! If that’s not taken by another thing already ;-(

Radius/range from off-hand training is becoming baseline, so we’re getting that.
For all we know what is coming :
- 1500 range LB baseline
- 100% proyectile speed increase baseline.
What i wish because i can’t see anywhere: - Augmented radius for off weapons (torch, axe, war horn) because i can’t find offhand training anywhere. The actual radius is really low for those weapons anyway.
- Pet’s basic attack must always hit. At least the base attack to be always a hit if the target is not evading/blocking. If the pet begins the animation that means begins the attack that attack must hit, same as an RTS game, when animations are only for show, the damage has been precalculated. Best way to do this: faster animations and damage applied at the beginning of it. Pet’s projectiles should have an increased speed, my spider basic attack can’t have the same flying speed as my LB #1.No more paper aeroplanes please.
- Faster cast for pet’s attacks. F2 and others (like charge from canines). My wolf takes a full second to charge, that’s too long for a simple knockdown that is more an interrupt.
