i just reach level 80 and use 30/30/5/0/5 with LB/SB and all berserker’s equipment, but i find myself very fragile and my pets also dead a lot.
is there any other choice for ranger in dungeon?
i want to try SB/AXE+X bleeding method, does anyone know its working or not??

I can tear through content like crazy, doing some group events in Southsun solo, on this new build for me:

20 (III, II) / 20 (II, IX) / 20 (V, X) / 10 (III) / 0

Rune of mesmer x5, and one rune of Dwayna.

4x settler items, but chest and helm are different. Chest is Power > tough/vital chest, and rampager helm.

Sword/Torch and Axe/Axe.
Rampager on all 4 weapons, with sigils of force and purity.

Rabid back and amulets w/ ruby jewels
rampager accessories with corel jewels
rabid ring with ruby jewel and rampager ring with corel jewel.

- A mix of mitigation and damage. I take mobs out much faster than my warrior, guardian, or mesmer – and have ‘tanky’ survival.?

- That’s my dungeon build, based on what I’ve seen with my other characters. This is my 4th 80 but my characters all run dungeons.

The idea is to do a lot of damage and be able to take a good solid hit. At least survive a ‘one-shot’ move, with the tools to come back and keep going.

The damage is heavily condition damage – so you won’t see numbers flashing on your screen or in your log (I checked my log and it doesn’t even seem to show condition damage unless I misread it), but stuff dies super fast – much faster than it does when I go after it with my warrior.

Pets: I alternate between the three devourers. Keeping any two of them at a time. I am not yet sure which two are best for my build. But these are ranged pets that spam conditions – they very rarely take damage, and when they do get aggro they burrow to hide (a dodge). I swap between them to get maximum uptime of the F2 ability. If F2 is on cooldown, I switch pets… if a pet gets to half health, I switch pets.
- Result is pet goes down very rarely. Usually only goes down if I do, and often not even then….
- It only goes down when I get distracted or forget to manage it.

Kichwas. could you be more detailed about your build, as i cant get the efficiency that you was talking about and cross reference to other player, they said its not possible with us ranger. what skill do u use and the focus of stats equipment ? thanks in advance

I have put many hundreds of hours into dungeon play with ranger. In my experience, your best traylines are wilderness survival and beasmastery and, to a lesser extent, skirmishing. Try this:

Yes, try a build with more defense. Or keep this build for now and get a set of Soldier’s or Knight’s trinkets. Masterwork greens are fine as a start. You can upgrade, mix/match or switch back to Berserker once you feel comfortable with the dungeon.

Get into the habit of swapping pets at around 40% health, or calling them back if you can’t and they’re losing health too rapidly. Try carrying Signet of Stone and/or Signet of the Wild to help them out too.

It can work with some condition gear. You can see how well bleeds perform in open-world PvE, where something like Southsun reef riders will melt from shortbow’s high refire rate and stacking bleeds.

In a dungeon team, however, the problem with focusing on bleeds is that most (all?) professions can stack them quickly and overwrite yours. So you’ll want to take note of what else SB/AXE+X offers, such as chill, poison, AoE, daze, etc., and think about how to use those too.
