ANET FIX REVENANT!!!!!!!!
They’re powerful enough IMO, but borked in two respects.
1) Cooldowns. They shouldn’t be there. The big appeal – supposedly – of this new class was providing another non-cooldown driven one, like thief. But giving players a choice other than thief if they prefer that style.
But there’s cooldowns on weapon skills and in the elite spec. So when you’re actually playing a rev, unless you’re ignoring weapon skills entirely, they feel exactly like all the other cooldown classes.
2) Underwater is a joke. Only 2 out of 5 specs available.
Ventari should be do-able with two adjustments. Disable being able to shift the tablet. Have the tablet stick to you instead.
Glint shouldn’t require adjustment. Or maybe minor ones like a boiling water animation instead of fire.
Jalis only has one problematic ability, inspiring reinforcement. Even if they can’t think of an alternative, just disable that one ability rather than the whole legend underwater.
I would love to play support revenant. But the tablet just feels a bit clunky.
Either have it stick to the player, or….a compromise: if the tablet is not summoned/rezzed in world, let the effects occur at the player, on the player. Then the choice will be, rezz the tablet and support remote players, or do not rezz it and have the effects occur from the revenant.
Doubt this will happen.

Revenant had CDs on all skills from the very first Beta it was never described as no CDs….
That said, itneed the other legends looked at, now they just need to add a Condi cleanse to all legends make all Legends have a stun break and fix all the kitten bugs. Then Rev would be somewhat ok. After that they need to reassess Traits, after some of the changes made to legends they never really loooked back at The traits.
Revenant feels unfinished and plays clunky. Needs more weapons. Hammer and staff needs an overhaul to make them less clunky and more fun to play.

I always thought it should follow you like a pet. The clunky micro managing of the tablet would be gone, and it keeps the Rev in the thick of battle. I spend more time moving that thing around when it’s out than I do using its abilities. I would even settle for a bigger range on it.

I find that most of the time, the tablet is not near me. I must evade attacks, I must kite…and I am then far from the tablet. It supports others well, it does not support me well.
It is as if I have no heal when using the tablet, essentially. Movement and the avoidance of damage is too important to allow constantly moving the tablet, which has a CD and energy cost, and as soon as I move the tablet to me (after I inevitably steal aggro) I must again move away from the tablet. I have to move the tablet constantly, and constantly move away from it.
I love the staff, the hammer, and the idea of playing as support. I just feel it does nothing for the revenant, even if it can be good support for other players (and it does seem pretty good to me, at supporting others).
I keep returning to it to try to find it more useful but it always seems subpar…by a huge margin.

I’m pretty sure rev has cooldowns specifically because they learned from thief.
If revs had no CDs there would be no good reason to not just spam unrelenting assault until the target dies.
And really thieves ought to have CDs.

And really thieves ought to have CDs.
Come to thieves’ forum and tell them that, bet they will eat you alive. Thieves have become something similar to guardians, being overpowered in aspects that may not fit in certain game modes but still beggining for another wave of buffs. Sometimes people should realize that they can’t have all things at once.
I really hope Anet will look into revenants once more soon because curently I don’t feel like revenant is useful any more.

I always thought that we couldn’t use these stances underwater more from a lore standpoint than one of skill mechanics… Because, like, they adjusted Unyielding Anguish just fine. I think they just had some fact checker being like, “Ummm, noooo, Dwarves are made of stone, they’d sink.”
ye now this class is no longer faceroll and all the bads have to learn how to play it right instead of 1 brain dead rotation.
ye now this class is no longer faceroll and all the bads have to learn how to play it right instead of 1 brain dead rotation.
The class is straight-up not wanted in raids, has a pretty unusable condi build and has no build diversity.
How do we fix this? Can you show us how? I guess we are just bad

Weaponskills should have cooldowns but no energy costs. Utilities should have energy costs but no cooldowns.
Simple.
Legend swap should honestly give a full energy bar.
Buff unrelenting assault by 15% and autoattacks by 10%. UA is now worthwhile to cast instead of autoattacks.
Either way rev damage in large scale fights is trash because sword 2 and 3 are diluted across targets. They should just make it a single projectile with the maximum damage on sword 2 and it can shoot up to 3-5 projectiles, 1 per target so it’s an aoe skill as well.
Also fix the fact that rev can’t run without glint because there’s virtually no way to generate might or fury reliably without glint, and rev base damage isn’t high enough like thief or ele to not have good access to might stacking to do damage.

The only use UA has right now is to survive the AOE cancer everywhere, conditions, CC.. that is if you even have the spare energy for the stupid high costs.

If they learned from thief then why they still dont have cd’s? Rev utility were supposed to be without cc safe for powerful ones like Jade Winds. Wep skills cost energy cus they were supposed to have low cds (look mace cds, the olny not nerfed weapon yet). They slapped cds on almost everything by now, nerfed skills and raised their cds at the same time. Why that didnt happen to thief at this point?

Let’s be honest here, pretty much every nerf to rev has been PvP motivated since they don’t bother to split balance changes except for a few rare cases.
sPvP has been the greatest single source of classes getting wrecked.

This is not even about rev viability, i really dont care much. The problem for me are flaws in rev desing. Nothing matches well. Beta/release rev was a completely different class, it wasnt perfect but at least it made more sense. Theres a good reason why we have energy system which was supposed to replace cds on our utility skills like ini for thief wep skills.
We cant really gain energy outside of legend swap which makes it clunky in general. Back when rev was announced i had hope i would be able to camp legend which suits me better in x sitatuion like devs descripted it to be instead of being forced to dance between them to gain energy.
And then theres also something like sword that makes no sense whatsoever. Sword aa scales up so it becomes better the moment more enemies show up, sword 2 and 3 do the opposite – they become much weaker to the point of being completely worthless. Theres no synergy whatsoever and thats just a one example. Being honest rev should be scrapped from this game in current state, reworked and brought back with no wep swap like he originally supposed to be. Rev will be either OP or UP and theres no way to balance that in current state.

WvW is PvP, btw. Just even more broken since stats are not even capped and consumables are usable.
Lol the Jallis energy cost nerf (by increasing the energy cost) on Road because it might break PvP/WvW!
You do realize screaming ANET FIX REVENANT won’t make them magically change their schedule and release a fix in the next week. Wait for the schedule and they will surely release a balance patch that will buff revenant and nerf thief, making the two classes that clash equal in strength.

Yeah, it took the thief community months of screaming to finally get Enchanted Daggers nerfed.
after years off quitting and now am back to start rev again it stile amaze me they didt fix the tablet skill from this class
i love to be a support class but to move the tablet all the time is a pain
Anet really need to rework this skill

Auto nerf was pve focused cus “we dont like rev to be autobased in pve”.. and yet here we are, rev is mashing 1 like no tomorrow with no other option whatsoever. Another great example of dev logic. Its get even more ridiculous due to the fact they boosted thief autos by a ridiculous amount cus they want em to keep ini for utility.. LIKE HELLO REV HAS “INI” TOO

Lol exactly what I had in mind, what kind of hypocrisy was that when they overbuffed thieves AA… and kittening again made Rev only viable if the only use AA after the stupid nerf on PS……….

The PvE nerf is bullkitten, they nerfed rev autos because of pvp. It’s just like with the nerf to revenant F2, they nerfed the 50% down because of WvW resistance stacking.
They never nerf classes because of PvE, they merely say it’s for PvE but if you look at the nerfs it’s usually a sea of pvp complaints that drives them.
Ele staff has been god tier in PvE since forever and they haven’t bothered to nerf meteor shower because it’s not a strong weapon in spvp.
Thief have kittened OP autoattacks that do more DPS than necro’s grave digger spam, but nothing happens to thieves bacause of spvp.
PS warrior is the most broken buff bot class in PvE, and they went and nerfed revenant boon generation and duration while warrior can keep permanent 25 might on group on top of banners.
But PS warrior don’t get touched because it’s not used in sPvP.
Everything balance based in this game revolves around spvp.
They don’t give a kitten about PvE balance.

I don’t entirely agree with you albeit I share some of those thoughts; the Viper Horror nerf for Necros was clearly a PvE balance change, and despite the nerf the Revenant sword auto is currently thier most powerful skill as long as you can cleave 2+ enemies and you have access to Impossible Odds. In most of times using Precission Strike or Unrelenting Assault means losing dps.
They don’t give a kitten about PvE balance.
We had lots of pve raid balance changes in case if you havent noticed yet. For example primal burst lb burn stacking. It didnt cause any issues in pvp. Also warrior is op af yet braindead in pvp as far im aware from a friend who still punish himself and plays gw cus hes a masochist. Rev sword 1 was nerfed cause devs didnt like rev 1 “rotation” for best dps and gave us new broken PS that only hinder rev and sword in general and previously it was only used for utility (chill, range). In the end we still rev still has to smash 1 cus everything else is dps loss so prepare for yet another auto nerf. Its nerfnant after all.
Moreover staff ele was nerfed for solo pve reason, icebow was nerfed for sole pve reason etc. Im really not going to list all the changes due to pve here so just please, stop spreading bs.
Playing Smite since mid s2, f broken gw2.

But that’s also really sad, because most of your weapon skills go unused in PvE because of that DPS loss.
What happened to the revenant? I came back after a week, and i cant even live 3 hits in the new living story? What have you done, ANet?

It seems like a lot of the stuff in the new story/map is especially rough for revenants… I normally breeze through content on my rev, but everything here has a billion toughness, rotating group aegis, and loads of condi-bombs. It’s like all of the hard counters to rev bundled into a neat little package.
EDIT: They seemed to have toned it down big time in a patch today… Well the enemy toughness at least.

Glint heal nerf (cast time on facet) was fair enough as people were double tapping it, when cc’d, for an easy anti spike heal. Now you actually have to invest in the regen part if you want the instant heal.

A regen which heals for nothing without healing power gear, and a heal that relies on the opponent being stupid enough to hit you, on a whopping 30 sec cd.
On top of a shiro heal that also not only heals for nothing, but is fragmented across attacks so effectively revenant has no reliable strong burst heal, despite being a class with no answers to conditions and extremely limited access to stability.
Remind me again why in hell I would play a revenant over zerker or dragonhunter.
You do less burst than both, you have no melee aoe cleave since all sword attacks split damage across targets unlike warrior and guardian greatsword/hammer melee weapons, and if you want reliable aoe you have to use a ranged weapon that makes you a sitting duck defensively.
You have worse survival, and you have worse utility in PvE as well.
I mean let’s just look how obscene Crystal Hibernation is. It’s virtually an inferior version of Shield Stance that makes you immobile for a pitiful 1.5k heal max, and the otehr skill is not a stun but a projectile heal who has delayed, short protection delivery and a 2k heal and both skills cost an enormours amount of energy like all our weapons currently do.
Where’s the revenant CC, an incredibly telegraphed, slow cast Glint elite? Sword has no good CC, hammer has a single one that takes centuries to go off and couldn’t be more obvious (the Dragon’s Tooth of revenants).
Staff had a single one that got gutted in cooldown and damage, on a weapon that does virtually no damage whatsoever besides the one CC skill whose damage was halved.
Meanwhile warrior hammer still crits people for 5-7k, the autoattack is vastly superior damage output, and several other skills also CC and do higher damage than staff skills, without competing for the same resource (energy) that you need to use for utilities to boot.

that is created due Anet awfull balance since the beggining, lots of stuff on guardian dont actually work out of the papper.
The issue is that some classe sstill have to much with poor sacrifice, and that is what Anet should fix, still they prefer to create “metas” by overpowering some spec then nerf it again, instead of create a wide area of combat over time.
