Alternate fix for Mallyx
This is a cool idea, although I think your demonic stacks make the playstyle a little too easy. You get to run around with no condis on yourself to worry about, but still send them to enemies?
I started to post a similar suggestion in a new thread, moving it here.
Here’s what I thought in the shower:
1) revert the Mallyx playstyle back to its BWE2 design (except tuning, bug fixes and Displace),
2) add a Corruption trait that makes the revenant immune to ally condi clears. Make this add an effect + icon to your bar that enemies can see.
This would bring back the Condi Control feel of the stance, and retain the high skill cap for both play and counterplay.
(I know Displace had a ton of potential, and I’ll miss it. But I accept that it didn’t play well with too many aspects of combat system. )
^
Displace wasn’t a bad mechanic imo, it just bypassed stuff that it shouldn’t bypass. If they fixed it so stabo works and it didn’t move huge PvE monsters I don’t really see the issue.
Displacement was something in the game back in GW1, nobody cried about it. Now it’s in GW2 and everyone is crying their hearts out apperently.
“Here’s my suggestion. If a player is running the Corruption line, they will be granted the ability to gain “Demonic Stacks” that will be applied every time a condition is applied to the player using Mallyx. These corruption stacks will buff the heal skill, work with the utilities in different ways to either apply more resistance, send out more conditions etc, and will make the Elite also send out more conditions as well. Same as the way conditions used to interact with Mallyx.”
Yes to this! Roy, read this please.
Maybe slightly change this though…
..My suggestion: Every Individual (not conditions that stack but the first applied. e.g. not bleed stack 2, but on the first bleed to be applied), Condition applies a “Demonic Stack” for 5(?) seconds. Let’s say max stack is 10. When entering the elite skill it pulses out Demonic Stacks every couple of seconds equal to the amount currently stacked on the user. This will work similarly to the Boon Retaliation but has AoE around the user.
so.. to simplify things I will give an example:
1. Revenant gets inflicted with blind
2. Revenant gets one “Demonic Stack” which has a 5(?) second limit
3. Revenant uses “Embrace the Darkness” https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Embrace_the_Darkness
4. Revenant pulses out damage (condition/ power based or just flat damage..whatever would be more balanced), in an AoE radius of 360(?) around him/ herself, every 3(?) seconds
You could also have traits work with this like…gain a 25 stat boost to all stats per stack of Demonic Stacks.
Maybe change the name?
This might work for usage during embrace the darkness, and it can work like the warrior’s berserker power or or signet mastery, you could add something to pulsating pestilence like
1) Gain a Stack of Pulsating pestilence each time you apply torment to a foe, stacks up to 5 times, deal 2% extra damage per Pulsating Pestilence Stack for 30s, ends if you fail to torment your foe the problem is you’re gonna permanently have the buff if you run mace
2) Gain a stack of pulsating pestilence each time a condition is applied to yourself stacks 5 times, when you activate embrace the darkness, pulse for 15s poison nd deal 2% extra damage per stack to foes suffering from torment.
3) Each time you apply torment to a foe grant yourself a stack of pulsating pestilence (3 seconds), apply random damaging conditions on critical hit, ends when you fail to land a critical hit, no synergy if you’re not running precision or crit chance traits.
4) Grant attonement to foes each time you critically hit (or use) while on legendary demon stance, making conditions from all sources more effective on them, increases incoming condition duration by 20% and increases condition damage 10% (too strong for PvP/WvW.
There’s really no much room to make it feel “unique” as you cannot copy conditions on you anymore and it’s not that effective since the net effect of copying conditions was covering your torment and burning so they removed stuff that wasn’t as dangerous, now you just are a moving torment bot, think of bleeds ranger but with torment.
