Can Revenants Solo PvE Well If Need Be?
I leveled one recently. I found sitting in shiro stance with sword and autoattacking with the quickness stance up is the best damage. Not exactly the most engaging gameplay, but it works. The #3 killing spree type attack works well against a single target.
at 80 with full herald/mallyx and exotic/ascended I solo champions all the time.

Same with Shiro/Herald and Ascended.
Sword auto attack is very powerful and applies vuln. Lots of skills with evasion to avoid dying horribly. Class is great solo.
I was taking on two +8 mobs no problem with it last night in my high 40’s.
I run sword/axe and hammer. Start with devastation traits and then pickup invocation.
Every class can solo PvE, it’s incredibly easy.
As for the highest rank mob a rev can solo, well there’s this…
Yes I know we all can solo but I mean efficiently is what I was getting at….thanks again to Kodiak for sending me some tips but I do have to say that sword auto attack while in shiro using the quickness at low lvls i run out of energy before most single target are dead so I am assuming that method is for when your higher lvl? I am only up to around lvl 20 now.
thanks again for the replies.
I feel Impossible Odds and Sword auto work much better at higher levels when geared. Not that I am disparaging it’s merits at lower levels. It still works, just ask the Ettins out in Gendarran Fields.
At any rate I decided not to tome it up and just grind levels the old way; map clear. At level 20 I was in Kessex Hills using hammer and Sword/Axe. I would mostly camp in Jalis using Vengeful Hammers. As for your question can rev solo? In my first hand experience the answer is a solid yes. Actually my thoughts while leveling, especially after unlocking Jade Winds, was; did the devs bother to adjust for the insane power rev brings to low level PvE?
If I may make a suggestion, the fundamental problem I had starting out was grasping the way Revenant really works. I felt handicapped by the BWE because I was expecting one level of performance, that of a level 80 fully geared rev, but what I was getting was the performance of a low level rev without the legendary/ascended weapons/gear. So, my suggestion is you may need to unlearn what you picked up in the BWE if you did them, and slow the pace long enough to really look at how you handle situations. Especially multi-enemy combat.
At any rate please feel free to whisper me in game and I would be happy to run with you for a little while and maybe provide some critic. It is my honest opinion that I can play the revenant better than during the BWE thanks to grinding levels up to 80 and thus having had the chance to feel out every stage of the rev.
So far below all the level 80 zones I’m doing map completion full ascended valkyrie armor, everything else zerker running glint/jalis.
No issues with anything including champions. Knowing when to use glint heal or shield skills mixed in with the nice damage I’ve been crushing.
Heavy condition enimies are really the only issue with revenant as we have very few ways to remove them in a timely matter
Leveling with Ventari is easy. Equip staff, smack the stuffing out of things and keep your healing tablet with you. If you run in a mix of healing and power it works well. I will say the personal stories have been easy. My Revenant is at 28 I think or maybe 29.
The thing I like about Revenant is you can pretty much match it to your playstyle. You can run Shiro and act like an Assassin. You can run Ventari and act like a Monk. You can run Jalis Hammer and act like a Warrior. You can run Mallyx and act like the old school Mesmer combined with a Necromancer. And of course, when you get Glint, you can run around with Mace and Shield and be a Paladin.
