Can someone help me understand Herald?
It’s kind of like engineers toolbelt, but its an upkeep or if double hit its an aoe boon spam.
They are upkeep skills.
Revenants generates 5 energy per second in combat, if my memory doesn’t fails me. Each skill in Herald, when activated for the first time, gives you a passive constant effect while costing 1 energy/sec. If you have two active upkeep skills, for example, you will only be generating 3 energy/sec.
But when you press the same skill again, you deactivate the upkeep skill (it stops draining part of your energy) and actives a secondary skill, with another effect. So each Glint skill has both a upkeep effect and a active effect.
I hope it helps.
I like to think of Herald like a signet build, with some differences.
Each skill is a minor upkeep of 1 or 2, except the elite which is 5. You have a base energy build of 5. This means you can have a couple of skills running at once or the elite alone without draining yourself, though your weapon skills also use your class energy pool so it’s better to leave at least 2 energy free.
Anyway, while the skills are running they pulse out boons which is a similar functionality to signet passives. When you hit them again they have an effect like a large front cone damage and knock back for the elite, not unlike signet actives. The only difference here is that the down time is much less and you have to turn them back on rather than just getting the passive back automatically.
The benefit, though, is that you can run the ones you want the passives for, then hit the ones you don’t want, gaining the passive for a little while, then again for the active. If you use the trait that gives you might every time you get a boon you can build up a lot of might really fast too, since they all give you boons.
The F2 “passive” increases your boon duration by 50%, and I think pulses that buff to everyone around you. The active just gives you all the boons the rest of the skills give you normally. The benefit of the F2, though, is that it can be used regardless of which legend you’re actually running and only costs 2 energy.

Oh nice it’s actually pretty simple. Thanks everyone! The Rev just seems to have a lot going on, more so than other professions at least. I might actually take my time leveling this one instead of blasting tomes.
Thanks again for the explanations
