I’m going for this build because I don’t have HoT, so no dragon for me,
According to this build, I need my armor, weapons and trinkets to have the “Viper’s” prefix

but according to this dungeon armor page:

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dungeon_armor

No heavy set seems to have it
So where do I obtain my gear then..? I tried searching “Viper” and “Viper’s” in the market, but nothing comes up…

Viper is a statline added with HoT, so you have to buy the recipes from other players, and a lot of the materials are only farmable in HoT maps.

Viper’s gear has to be crafted, or obtained through stat selectable ascended gear. Unfortunately for you you need to own HoT to be able to use viper gear. The best core game condition set would be sinister, which also has to be crafted.

Viper is all crafted, and the trinkets and such you can get through the Living story’s. Its account bound as well, so cant be bought sadly. Use the WIKI and you can see where its available from. Its a bit expensive unless you farm for it, but then again that’s only the accessories.

Ah yea, my bad, missed the you don’t have HOT bit. Sinister it is then and its only creatable as well.

Is there a revenant meta build for PvE that’s relevant to non-HoT players..? or should I start farming craft levels for the Sinister set..?

Just ignore the vipers bit and it works just fine everywhere!

Looks like the same build to me, if I ignore viper, should I try to grind crafting to make Sinister?

No because you can only play revenant if you own HoT up till the new expansion. You might want to see the new stat sets that will be releasing with PoF to see if they are better than sinister.

Wait, you lose access to revenants unless you buy HoT before PoF comes out?
I bought caved in and bought HoT 5 minutes ago, hope I didn’t make a mistake haha

I see some misinformation here.

Core revenant becomes available with either heart of thorns or path of fire. But to unlock Herald and use Viper stats you need to have HoT. Likewise to unlock Renegade and pof specific stats such as Grieving, you need to own PoF.

Grieving is Power and Condition damage major with precision and ferocity as minors.
Viper is Power and Condition damage major, with precision and expertise as minors.

Imho, its the expertise that makes Viper so good, as expertise increases the duration of your conditions. so it will remain superior to grieving.

Hope that clears up things.

I think that if you have ascended items you can reset the stats to viper just buying the Viper Intricated Gossamer Insignia (for armor pieces, with the equivalent item for the weapons) in the Black Lion’s market and using the Mystic Forge .

So technically I think that a player can get the viper stats without HoT. The same should happen with the selectable stats from legendary weaponry.

Account bound are they not?

Yep, all viper insignias are account bound, you need hot if you want to use them.
