Playing Smite since mid s2, f broken gw2.
(edited by Burtnik.5218)
That confirms next elite spec being condi based.
Unyielding anguish is broken af now, theres no way it wont get nerfed. Meanwhile Mallyx elite is even more worthless
(edited by Burtnik.5218)
How is it broken or worse now?

Idk man, being able to put on 20 torment stacks from one skill is totally legit. Ofc we can say that you can get away from it but if your mobility skills are on cd then pretty much anyone is kittened up, no condi clear is going to keep up with that (and my build prepatch was specifically made to proc up to 4 condi off anything, even autos). I havent played in months, went to wvw and 1v1 some people and destroyed them, UA offers too high pressure in current state with the new reworked trait.
And Mallyx elite became even worse at this point cause theres literally no reason to cast it over UA right now, they were pretty similiar pre patch but now UA offers superior, ridiculous pressure compared to EtD.
The only thing i dislike is the change to mace 3 not tracking targets. It sux balls having to aim it manually and i ended up not using it at all unless i was chasing someone who was running in straight line.

The real insanity lies in the Ventari Elite. You can spam it pretty much for tons of healing orbs on a near constant basis and it only costs 10 energy. Easy to keep up.

Thats also fun stuff, sadly im not into support at all.

True and granted you won’t be doing anything else since it uses up all remaining energy but it’s a fun thing to mess around with. :P

it protect from condi bomb in team fight as you will have lrage nrg pool to use to cleanse 5 allies
in pvp i cannot use it to control the area with kb anymore cause of the 0 nrg now….
I like the mace 3 non-tracking change. It makes it so that you actually need skill to land it. Also, it’s nice for when you want to proc might from mace 2 and don’t need to worry about untargeting an enemy.
Hey anet! Power rev was trash too!
I must admit that I was surprised how easy it is to get 25 stacks of torment.
I tried some basic corruption spec with Venom Enhancement, Abyssal Chill and Maniacal pulse and it seems to work quite well.
What about weapon sets? Mace/axe is probably a no-brainer, but what about the other one?
I tried sword/shield because precision strike applies chill, which in effect applies even more torment due to Abyssal Chill.
What about armor? Carrion to crate power/condi hybrid smacking enemies with sword and conditions?
What about runes?
I just got into the game after 1 year break and I’m trying to find something fun to play.
Any build suggestions are welcome.
i went with mace/axe mallyx and staff shiro. staff shiro is just for jukes and survival.
deadshot amulet / torment rune for maximum damage.
How is it broken or worse now?
Because if they didn’t say those kinds of things, they would have to stop selling salt. Admitting Anet did something good for Revs would make their worlds collapse.
Frankly, I think the number of stacks is not really relevant; it’s the amount of damage it does. Obviously 25 stacks is more damage, but is it like .“25 stacks of bleed” reasonable? Not sure.
Its okay they totally ruined mace 3 by removing its tracking on it Lol. As to how is it broken use Shiro/mal mace/s mace/axe. Start in Mace/s use the block phase in immob into legend swap with hydro sigil+unyielding. Swap into Mace/axe use 5/4 theyre likely dead by this point.
Frankly, I think the number of stacks is not really relevant; it’s the amount of damage it does.
I’m sorry, did you forget that condition damage is a linear relationship based off of stack size?

No. I’m simply indicating the relevant thing here is the damage it does, not how many stacks you get. If it still sucks, then why do I care if it’s 12 or 25 or whatever stacks?
Hey anet! Power rev was trash too!
The buffs are mostly condition PvE oriented (yes, that spec that Is Nerfing Time calls “fine”). I think that roaming/PvP condi Rev is still crap because still lacks stability, condition cleanses and any sort of condition pressure at range.
I do like the axe changes though. Can’t complain about getting more effects.

It is fine (more than fine, it’s great), and has even been buffed with latest patch.
Your problems are always PVP related and therefore irrelevant as PVE is the focus of the game.

Lmao. These condi buffs were mostly pve focused cause condi rev was far from fine.

I have no problems with neither PvP or PvE Revenant: I don’t even need to do damage in PvE and PvP has a single playable build which didn’t change in a year so doesn’t require any sort of adaptation. Rev is one of the best -if no the best- hunter/gatherer class in a grind oriented game; the changes are wellcomed but aren’t particulary useful for me.

In PVE it’s a great choice, now it’s become a bit stronger.

Rev is pretty good at doing different roles, just depends on what you want to do and how adaptable you can be, alongside of getting used to the Rev being able to do that.
Changes won’t always prove themselves to be useful (I personally would have preferred Quickness to Alacrity on Ventari but hey, can’t win them all)

It was a viable and good choice, Rev has had 3 choices – Support, Condi and Power for awhile now.

If condi rev was viable then they wouldnt buff him in the first place. You dont make any sense at this point cause even devs found condi rev to be subpar choice, unless you consider yourself to be smarter than everyone else ingame, including devs with access to data?

Subpar or not, it was over-tuned as usual. Or do you think that it is currently at a reasonable and balanced state?

Pve wise idk, he definitely feels much stronger tho.
Pvp im not sure. Condi rev is still subpar due to lack of ranged condi wep but most likely he will be dominating in low elo games like dh did.

Is decent at PvE/WvW zergs. Leaves a lot to be desired at roaming/PvP. Excels at grinding content solo.

I don’t think you can make that conclusion. We have seen LOTS of thinks changed that was hard to understand why Anet did it. Anet buffs things EVEN when they are viable, EVEN when they are THE BEST option. For example, when they buffed Guardian Meditations; it made the best PVP option for Guardians (at the time) even better and left everything else in the dust.
So no, trying to make sense of why Anet does things isn’t really such a logical exercise as you seem to indicate. What is clear to me; this was a PVE buff and since you admit you aren’t concerned with Rev PVE in the first place, it would be interesting to understand why you are so zealous in your thread about condi buffs. That’s a bit of a rhetorical question; I think anyone with history already knows you’re here to sell the salt. Unfortunately salt tastes great on food like this.
I read that the new condi changes are nice with jails for the hammer dot.

You get few stacks of torment at most. I’m sure it’s better to just UE. Single UE is 15+ stacks (and chill).

I have been testing it out, it is quite a bit more then a few and it makes a big difference dps seems really nice for condi.
May I ask (from someone who tried rev a lot but can’t seem to play it right) how condi’s got buffed and the big deal about UA? Im noob when it comes to rev but the condi aspect always intrigued me.
Thanks.

From a PvE perspective, I think it’s passable. It might be slightly overtuned, but not to the point of being broken. I’ve been playing a condi rev recently and I didn’t feel like I had a solid reason to pick Mallyx up until now. Sure, it was supposed to be the condi legend. Sure, there were some condis here and there but I ended up favoring Glint over it. Now? I find myself leaning toward Mallyx for that insane UA. But leaning toward Mallyx is how a condi rev should be supposed to feel, IMO.

next expac Revenant gets bow with ranged condi. Already leaked.
next expac Revenant gets bow with ranged condi. Already leaked.
I known, and we are at least at 5+ months away from the next expansion, so this patch (and the one in February) didn’t change anything in terms of PvP, dueling or roaming. Both Ventari and Mallyx aren’t the strongest builds to that facets of the game.
ANet is just buffing things that no one uses, as signet Guardian and so. Of course could be worse (some specialization keep getting nerfs, but Rev isn’t in a place in which there’s room for too much nerfs. Is already living in the mud.

Devs have buffed or nerfed things before without it being strong or weak, your posts are irrelevant at this point.

Revs are anything but in the mud, seriously learn to build and play Rev properly before commenting.
PVP is irrelevant, PVE is the focus of the game. PVP has it’s own balance area + team (hence the splitting of skills).
Devs try to buff underused things for what reason? Oh that’s right, to try and get people to use them. Revs do not fall into this category, the spreadsheet warriors need to catch up.

There’s nothing to learn from PvE Rev, since PvE doesn’t require any sort of adaptation; most fights (including those “raid solo boss” videos) requires nothing but to endlessly repeat the same small chain of skills. Suboptimal chain rotations oftenly delivers success, only at slower pace.
For Revs the competitive modes outside WvW raids (PvP, roaming, duelling) are based essentially in the same unique build which was available since HoT release (power Rev with Shiro Glint), which became increasingly harder to play after 18 months of nerfs in a row. This part does require adaptation, because builds and tactics from other classes do change, whereas the rigidity and unflexibility of the utility skills from Revs and the small pool of weapons available prevent players from being creative, so our legs are sunk in the mud.
There’s a year and half of Pro Tournaments, ESL events and different competitions to prove my point. I must add that I’m not particulary worried about this, but I find reprehensible the attempts to sugar coat the reality from some people.

If you are only endlessly pressing buttons to fill a rotation, then you do not actually know what you’re doing. You are just button pressing, not learning. That is not mastering a class, that is not adapting, that is not being flexible which is what a Rev is.
PVP is irrelevant in a PVE focused game, your comment is irrelevant.
Pro tournaments and ESL (which failed) is again, irrelevant. PVP does not matter nor does the input of PVP matter.
The only point proven is that you don’t know what you’re doing. Rev is a great class that you and others do not want to admit.
PVP is irrelevant in a PVE focused game, your comment is irrelevant.
Keep saying that to yourself; the developer is called ArenaNet; the game is called Guild Wars 2; the game has two competitive game modes (WvW, PvP) plus some informal ones (roaming, duelling); most of PvE content (like completing maps, dungeons, Living Story Chapters, even Fractals… ) are done once and then abandoned. ANet invested a bunch of bucks in esports and failed due they didn’t care about (you can’t get a healthy game releasing only 4 patches a year), but GW2 isn’t about PvE, is about the [b]shiniez[/i].
The [b]shiniez[/i] are the driven force behind the players in this game and you can get the [b]shiniez[/i] doing 0 PvE, because this is Fashion Wars. This is more than proved, any time WvW (season achievements) or PvP (The Ascension, ascendant rewards from Season 5) got new [b]shiniez[/i] the fashion warriors literaly flooded WvW and PvP to earn those [b]shiniez[/i].
The only point proven is that you don’t know what you’re doing.
I got 6 legendary items having no clue of what I’m doing, how much that scores in Fashion Wars 2? Rev is subpar albeit fun (but not as fun as reading in this subforum).
Someone always trying to decide what the meta is and how things should work, it really comes down to ego and people pretending like they get to control what is meta.
If you are only endlessly pressing buttons to fill a rotation, then you do not actually know what you’re doing. You are just button pressing, not learning.
Im not sure what i am supposed to do/learn in gw2 pve when the game plays itself for me, it is a walk in the park. I think you actually havent played a hard game at all like Metro 2033 on ranger hardcore or Dark Souls on ++++++ which makes all casuals cry and uninstall.

Done Metro, good game but then once you know AI pathing and reactions it gets a bit easy to game it. I’m not interested in DS but I’ve seen my fair share of people play it.
You learn your class, what it can do and what it can’t, how you can push the limits of it, experiment with builds, traits, gear. Do different things in different situations.
Literally use your imagination and see where you end up. Ignore what people say about “this is / is not viable” and try it out.
The game is PVE focused boy, always will be. The next spec is PVE related and has nothing to do with PVP – why? PVP changes all the time based on player perceptions. I know relatively little about it because I’ll see it when the expansion is out.
The next Revenant specialization is PvP focused, the same as was with the Dragon Hunter for Guardian with HoT. Dragon Hunter’s longbow was implemented due how poorly scepter performed as ranged weapon in PvP/roaming. DH’s longbow had no use in raids and fractals, DH specialization was devoted to PvP, the same as the Renegade. The Revenant will get a bow in the next expansion due how weak is condition Revenant in PvP and roaming, and the main reason behind his weakness is the inability to put condition pressure at range, so is easily kitted to death.
You keep saying how PvP is irrelevant and still the whole Dragon Hunter specialization and the Renegade specialization are built to make those classes shine at PvP and roaming. Your arguments are becoming more and more embarrasing to read due how far from reality they are.
No they made the elite spec a Condi one because if you haven’t noticed, clearly that’s the direction they’re heading in and have been doing so for some time.
They made the elite spec a condi ranged user because the class already has a power ranged build.
In PvE the key feature is how fast you do the task, and that usually makes players to focus in damage. Now, in almost every RPG game, damage is prevalent in mele/close ranged weapons and skills, which makes sense: you have more risk, so the reward should be bigger, and also because if ranged weapons would deal more dps then nobody would use mele weapons at PvP (you would be killed while approaching to your foe). GW2 isn’t an exception and that’s the main reason which most of the dps build for raids and fractals are mele.
If the spec were PvE focused, it wouldn’t use a bow.
Can’t get Legendary through PVP – the small pieces or whatever (mats) yes, but then I specifically stated weapons. There is no weapon track for it – you must either buy it outright or do PVE for it. You can get mats via PVP but that isn’t what I asked.
Learn to read.
That statement is hilarious: you can earn gold in PvP, buy the precursor, buy all the mats, get for free a decent amount of them, and get the precursor doing 0 PvE. Since forging a legendary isn’t even account bound you don’t even need to do the crafting: a friend can do it for you. You can get any first gen legendary weapon and The Ascension being only a PvP player.

I suspect you know this in such great detail because of a dev quote you can link to?

The only thing embarrasing thing that’s happening here boy, is how desperately you’re grabbing at straws, or anything really, to show GW2 is focused on PVP too. It’s not.
It will always be a PVE game, first and foremost, 100%.
PVP is irrelevant – get over it
The next spec is not PVP related nor is it anything about it. Dragonhunter was not PVP related, they are always PVE related because Devs had previously stated they were interested in getting new weapons for different classes. Your opinion on the Scepters performance is irrelevant because it doesn’t matter about PVP. Rev has needed a ranged Condi weapon for some time now – again irrelevant to PVP.
You talk about melee DPS but ignore my point – they are moving towards a Condi heavy meta and have been doing so for sometime now. Your PVP is irrelevant.
You cannot get a Legendary in PVP, a weapon, by doing PVP alone. You don’t get it. There is no track for PVP. I’ve already stated you can get gold or mats, but not the thing itself. There is a journey in PVP that gets you the precusor and then you mat farm. You cannot get any Legendary weapon by PVP alone nor would you – PVP doesn’t matter. It’s a side game at best.
Get over it, your PVP doesn’t matter
Gw2 is a pve game? Lol ok there busy. Gw2 is a pvp wvw and pve game thats what made it stand out. But for you its a pve game. Have at it i dont care.
To say PVP doesn’t matter is pretty narrow minded. People will theorycraft on the best DPS builds, sure but that’s already done a week after balance patch. Then what? You just remember your rotations and get orgasms killing pocket raptors and chaks? PVP/WvW meta shifts makes things interesting. Many people, including myself, enjoy PvP and how it shifts playstyle. Obviously PvP does matter or else ANET wouldn’t update the sigils or split skills.
What you mean to say is PVP doesn’t matter TO YOU. Whether you like it or not, the condi buff has a positive impact in PvP and people are talking about it.
. Dragonhunter was not PVP related, they are always PVE related because Devs had previously stated they were interested in getting new weapons for different classes.
Dragon Hunter’s longbow has no use in PvE, not a single build for metabattle uses that weapon for raids or fractals; the whole DH spec is designed to use the bow and to shine in Conquest, duels and small skirmishes in WvW. If you want to PvE with a DH you still go hammer, sword and scepter like Guardian 5 years ago. DH is a PvP spec.
You cannot get a Legendary in PVP, a weapon, by doing PVP alone. You don’t get it. There is no track for PVP. I’ve already stated you can get gold or mats, but not the thing itself. There is a journey in PVP that gets you the precusor and then you mat farm.
You don’t need any track to get legendary weapons from PvP. PvP provides you gold and mats, you use that wealth to buy either the components or the complete legendary weapon from the Black Lion Market. You don’t ever never need to to touch PvE or the worls open map a single time to get any of the 21 first generation legandary weapons.
This game doesn’t only have PvP and WvW, they are also split from PvE so players which enjoy fighting doesn’t need to bother with PvE. Hell, Sacrx from Red Guard did reach 250k kills in WvW with a 12% map completion in his main character.
Renegade will be a PvP/WvW spec, as the DH is. The PvE condi spec some people was waiting to not being kicked at the raid’s door is the current May patch (only to be totaly overshadow by condi ele, lul). Condi Rev PvE iRelevant.
WVW was a failed venture
Tell that to thousands of people playing WvW on daily basis . A bit lack of devs attention but they still seem to be enjoying that and no way one could describe that as “failed venture”.
Scrapper transforms well into PVP from what I’ve heard, but designed for PVP? I don’t think so.
The only time I ever saw a scrapper in fractals was some unfortunate guy that joined t4 it with a friend and then got removed because his DPS was underperforming. Do they also pick scrappers for raids? Nope, the only engineers that run it are condi non-elite spec ones So if it was designated for PvE as much as PvP then seems like Anet was OK with scrapper’s state in PvE for almost two years. Or perhaps it’s much simplier – it IS working as intended but as PvP spec :P
