Is there a way to turn of the glowing effects on a revenant’s gauntlets? I dislike the effect and it doesn’t go with my current look. Thanks.

You can get an outfit from the store. Mine is wearing one (Ancestral) and her hands do not glow. I don’t have an answer if you are wanting your armor to show, though. Sorry.

I’m also not a massive fan of this, a toggle would be appreciated. Now if it made our weapons glow, I’d be happy with that.

Just curious to you who dislike the hand glows, do u also dislike the non transparent/ glowy herald ground graphic? If not, which i asume u dont mind since it isnt mentioned here, how come?
Personally i barely notice the hand glow when playing, while im really distracted by the herald icon.

I haven’t used the herald trait line, so I haven’t seen the herald ground graphic yet. It sounds annoying though. I would ALSO like to disable that, but I’ll probably just not use the herald spec.

EDIT: There is also a glow that randomly spurts up on the skill bar. Noticed it while in 1st-person mode. It’d be nice if all this glow kitten could be disabled. It’s distracting and annoying.

Many will though as its our main source of swiftness and not having to run traveler runes

I also feel like the herald sigil is in a desperate need of a makeover

Herald ground glow is a different thing since its only while using a dragon skill. Handglow is in ALL stances

I wouldn’t mind a toggle somehow.

But I really hope they don’t outright remove it, I really like it.

Updated note: The wardrobe costumes don’t affect the glow. It is less noticeable but still there. I noticed it while doing some crafting. I’m not sure why it wasn’t showing up the first time I equipped the costume. Could have been some sort of graphics glitch.

for me it’s an outfit thing. I like the glow, but I can’t deny that Mallyx goes 500 times better with my outfit than Shiro does. To be honest I think it would be a lot cooler if it only glowed when you’ve entered combat and/or have weapons drawn.

It would actually be super-awesome if each class had a “FX toggles” section in their char pane, where you can just tick or change visibility for them; I assume some may want them on for pvp visibility and such to spot what the class is doing.

I just changed the dyes of my armor because the hand glow did not really go with red. I made a rainbow revenant. With blue gauntlets the blue, green or purple glow works OK. Probably won’t use the yellow much.

I love the handglow it makes revs actually look unique.

Only explanation apart from coolness would be to give enemies a hint of what legend do you have active.
Do enemies see any boon when you are in Shiro for example? Do they see the big pics above your head when invoking a legend (awesome btw)? Hear the sound? (I know you hear Elementalists – Feel the fires of Balthazar, etc., but didn’t really notice revenant).

Why disabling the glow? it’s like asking to do not have butterflies on mesmer skills or flaming effect on guardian. yeah it stays out of combat but is super cool. Wouldn’t mind an option, sure, but i feel the problem like way down in the queue of things to do.

Yeah, was about to post that. They’ve shown through both my Royal Guard outfit and Executioners. But I love the glow, so eh.

Yes other player see in which stance you are on your buffbar, also the big image they see. not sure about the voice over

I would also also like to see an option to either:

Disable the glow
or
Allow it to be dyeable

as it really bothers me from an aesthetics standpoint.

definitately a +1 to this! Either toggle option, dye option or just a 2 second glow when switching legend.

Ok, if it bothers you aesthetically you are missing the point. The glow is the color of the legend you are invoking. You shouldn’t be able to get rid of it. Don’t want it for a picture? Un-equip all legends for the shot. You are intimately bound to these forces you wield, if it bothers you THAT much then change your die job to the legend you use the most.

Also remember the e-sports angle, revenants have hand glows so viewers know what stance they are in. Knowing what is happening is important.

As for the symbol when you change? Sometimes people see it and sometimes not, more often than not it won’t be seen. What your character says while changing is like elementalists changing…sometimes heard, sometimes not depending on the FX going on in the area and the skills you are using. Your own skill use does tend to over ride what you will hear from others. The color burst on elementalists when they change is far more giving away though than what glow is around a revenant’s hands.

As has been said already, complaining about the hand glow is like playing a mesmer and complaining about the butterfly motif on everything, or the fact a necromancer is all black and green skills, or the blue flame on the guardian. You chose a class knowing the color will be there, take that into account when coloring armor.
