Energy regen rate after legend swap
i also noticed this. usually when i’m in glint i switch to sword, use unrelenting assault and switch to shiro. the energy regen after switching is very slow for a short duration, so while it should go from 50% to around 60 it actually only goes up to 53-55 depending on how many upkeep skills i had active before.
theres something buggy with facet of nature. where I noticed a similar issue is swapping from glint to shiro for a quickness stomp, Impossible Odds is locked out.
if any facet is active theres a delay before Impossible Odds is rdy, but if Facet of nature is active it nvr becomes available.
I had this issue as well. It seems like the upkeeps take a moment to deactivate now. During BWE2 I was able to activate IO immediately after a swap from Glint, but now I have to wait if I was running a few facets, sometimes feels a bit longer if I had more upkeeps activated
I had this happen a lot too. I would swap from glint to jalis and it would degen around 15 energy before it would start going back up.
Thanks all. It appears the consensus is that this is a bug and it’s not by design. I’m glad to hear that since even though a few seconds of delay after legend swap may sound like a small thing, I found it to be fairly disruptive to gameplay. Here’s hoping this will be fixed when HoT releases.
i think the reason why nature and impossible odds block each other is so that you can’t stack a high amount of quickness.. or so..
but the regen rate after swapping is definitely a bug

I don’t think that’s a bug. When you have facets active they take up some of your upkeep. When you swap legends it takes a second for your facets to do their final tick and then they deactivate. Facet of nature doesn’t require glint to be active and doesn’t deactivate when you swap legends. You can only have a total of 10 upkeep going at a time and Impossible Odds requires all 10. So you can’t have Facet of Nature (-2) and Impossible Odds (-10) active at the same time.

The glint facets had ended and were not giving their effects anymore the boons completely disappeared but I would keep getting energy degen once swapped.
I thought it was me doing something wrong but I guess not. I would have Glint and wait till around the 50% health mark to flip to Shiro to use Impossible odds then Unrelenting assault, or something to that nature.
if Facet of nature is active it nvr becomes available.
As SyDragon said, this particular interaction is not a bug. You will not be able to activate IO if any other upkeep skills are running, because the maximum upkeep allowed is -10.

I know what you’re saying, but what I was seeing was that if I had some facet upkeeps going including facet of nature, if I popped F2 to get the boons and then pressed F1 to swap legends, I’d still see it take 2 or 3 seconds for the regen rate to reset itself so I could activate an upkeep on the new legend.
In other words, I agree that facet of nature is special because it isn’t an upkeep tied to a specific legend, so it makes sense that I’d need to pop it prior to swapping. But the other Glint upkeeps also seem to affect things. My point is that if I swap out of Glint, I’d expect the Glint upkeeps to be released immediately so that if facet of nature was also not active, the new legend should have a fully reset energy regen rate as soon as I enter it.

And I wasn’t addressing that at all. I was specifically referring to the one interaction, which is why I worded it the way I did.
As to what you are referring to, I have seen it suggested that it is might be due to the fact that the facets pulse every three seconds. I agree that it makes legend swap feel clunkier than it ought to.
@OP I noticed this too, what’s worse, if you try to double click the greyed out upkeep skill, its very easy to turn it on then off again. This was really annoying because unlike in Glint, all the other upkeep skills for the other legends have an initial cost e.g. 10 energy for shiro’s IO. Please fix this for launch

This is because Impossible Odds requires 10 upkeep consuming all your available upkeep. while it’s active which means you don’t have enough upkeep(2) to use facet of nature as well.
I’ll investigate the energy regen feeling weird a bit to see if it’s an issue.
I work on systems, combat, skills, and balance.
I noticed this bug too, There seems to be a small server side lag when it comes to the Energy system figuring out what it’s doing in new legends.
Also, Thanks Roy!

Gotcha – sorry I missed your point. Sounds like we’re on the same page. You’re probably right about the facet pulse. I’d still propose that even if they are mid-pulse, as soon as you swap legends they should disappear and the energy regen rate should reset immediately.

Thank you. I don’t think the sluggish reset of the energy regen on legend swap was present in BWE2. Whatever the source of it is, I think it appeared as a new issue in BWE3.
+1 to this. I have also noticed this. Can’t say I have ever died due to this issue so it isn’t completely gamebreaking ,but it would be a much appreciated QoL fix for sure.

After seeing a few threads about it and then going to check it out myself I’ll chime in and say it feels like a bug.
I tested it when swapping out if Shiro and Impossible Odds and the other respective upkeeps, and the energy penalty reset just fine, instantly, sitting me dead at 50 upon swap and with +5 generation immediately. It only seems to occur when you swap out of Glint whilst having at least one Facet up.
Basically, the regen rate will remain as though the Facet is still active for at LEAST a full second, so what’ll happen sometimes if you’ll be at a full -10 from all your Facets (for example) and then swap into Shiro, your energy will reset to 50 but your regen will still be -10, so by the time that resets you’re actually down to 40-45 energy. I’m pretty certain this functionality wasn’t there in BWE2, so it looks like something unique to BWE3, but I can’t verify that.
What I think is happening is that the Facets are lingering for the duration of their current tick of boons, despite having swapped out of the Legend and thus not actually receiving the benefits of the tick, so naturally the regen penalty stays around for that duration also.
Is this an intended functionality to prevent people from trying to cheese Facets by popping them for a millisecond to get the boon tick before swapping into another Legend, because that’s something I could actually see being a thing? If so, I think once that becomes known it’ll just become something people will learn to play around, but in its current unremarked-upon state it feels unintended.
Hope any details I gave here helped, although you’ve probably already been able to get a repro to see exactly what we’re talking about!
