Hammer's throw animation
I just feel bad using the hammer extensively. I know that’s no light weapon so swinging it over your head constantly like that for an extended period of time must be exhausting :p
The current hammer throw animation is far from the best, but the spear throw animation would be much worse. You can’t throw a hammer like a spear. Spears (or javellins, more specifically) are aerodynamic and shaped to allow throwing them point-first. Throwing a hammer head first, on the other hand, is a terrible idea. Not only would it be difficult to accomplish, but it wouldn’t be particularly effective either.
The only animation I can think of that might work for a hammer throw would be the greatsword throw animation that Mesmers and Warriors have. But seeing that repeated over and over again for an auto-attack would likely look clunky and awkward.

I am aware that throwing a hammer like a spear would be inpractical, if not impossible, in real life.(With aerodynamics, weight distributions and all other factors) Revenants already break the physics with their mist based magical attacks, so a magically flung hammer would not be that weird. Also i think you might be right that the sword throwing animation might look clunky as an auto attack
Initially I didn’t like it, but now I only wish the projectile matched your weapon (maybe it’s just unmanageable tho) or at least looked a bit more mistier so you can only roughly see. Also, i don’t think you actually throw it, but rather fling a mist-copy of it or so. Might just be me misinterpreting though.
The reason that it won me over some is, try looking closely when it’s used. I just love that swing around and the other hand bracing the haft. That’s the kind of detail that really made me love this game.
