Recently tried the meta herald build and even though I have not mastered it by any means, I’m enjoying it so far, I just can’t seem to fully kill someone 1v1 xD. Any advice for someone who needs to git gud?

Is there already a “meta” build out on metabattle?

Ugh.

Ok. Basic tips:

Shield 5, sword 3, staff 3, staff 5 or hammer 3 when someone tries to burst. Try to balance the need for evades with the need for damage. Sword 3, staff 5 and hammer 3 do very decent damage but try and find a time to use them for both the evade and the damage rather than just one or the other.

Glint utilities reveal when theives, mesmer and engis go in to stealth. Don’t reveal them if you’re currently losing. Use that time to heal up and even the playing field. Reveal is for maintaining your offensive momentum, not for just annoying people and forcing them to destroy you.

Stack up boons with facets of strength, darkness and nature both before and during a fight and then use UA, CoR and staff 5 when your opponent is out of heals since they are your highest damaging attacks.

Impossible odds + sword auto to prompt their heals.

Phase traversal to catch someone.

Shield 5, infuse light if you’re about to die.

Try to use infuse light rather than shield 5 if you have conditions on you.

Interrupt slow casts with jade winds, glint elite, hammer 5 or staff 5. You should always have a cc handy.

Use shield 4 whenever you get a chance where you have enough energy and time.

When using infuse light, let them do the work. Stand still or stand in an aoe but make sure you get out half a second before your invulnerability ends. There may be an impulse to dodge or move around; try to quash it until the very last second. If your opponent is smart and moves away from you then follow him and force him to use some damaging cc or something – just make sure you have a stunbreak ready to go.

Do not rule out using the glint elite passive effect if you’re in a pinch. A lot of people seem to have done that.

Disengage from a fight by using a combination of dodging, riposting shadows and impossible odds.

Impossible odds is very useful for stomping someone, especially if they interrupt you. Do not bother trying to stomp on other revs. Unless you’ve broken their spirit and their will to fight, just kill them the old fashioned way. It’ll probably end up being faster.

Have fun.
