Herald runes. how are they so expensive!!?
ironically, herald runes are really bad for herald as when you pop glint’s heal, prot is the last thing you want as it reduces the amount you are healed for.
first of all Ive never seen a rune set be even a fifth of the current price of herald runes….so i have a few questions.
a) are they that great? (if you have the money to spend)b) what type of build would you be working toward with those runes…suport tank?
Probably over priced ATM as those are completely new runes. I wouldn’t pay 80 G for each runes when I would need 7 of these to get a complete set (+UW). For that price I could buy a precursor and start on a legendary weapon instead. ;-)
They are that expensive because you cannot make them. People are getting them by extracting the rune from account bound gear that you get from either sorry or spec unlock, I forget which

I tried and the gear granted by specialization can not be salvaged.
Correct, they extracted it using them gem purchased extractor.

According to wiki, you should also be able to craft them with Superior Rune of the Revenant, Evergreen Lodestone and Leaf Fossil.
You will need to get a Recipe: Superior Rune of the Herald which can take some time as you need first to unlock the Herald specialization, earning the Master Herald achievement.
From what I can see on wiki the cost of Evergreen Lodestone is around 2 G 13 Silver ATM. You will need one for Rune of Revenant and one for Herald: ~4 G
So Vyce explanation isn’t the only one. Material gathering in HoT might take more time, then in Tyria as could be depending on events/zones to get there and you have to double click rather hard to create those stones from Noxious Pods. Look at how many steps you will need to go from opening Pods until you have one Evergreen Lodestone, if you don’t buy some intermediate material from TP.
So far I have only been in Verdan Brink, so I don’t know how the other zones in HoT map work, but from reading here it seem hard to get people to do events in Dragon Stand where you will need to go for at least one of those items to craft. Secondly you also have to have your Mastery at some level to manage to get around there in one piece, so that could also be one part of why people charge that much ATM.
