Yeah, it’s the center effect that needs to go, it stretches horribly too if you go up or down terrain.

Yeah, I agree that the effect could use a little bit of rework. At the moment it looks just ugly and does not fit with anything currently in the game…

Oh. My. God. Please give us an option to disable these ugly, annoying and USELESS ground effects…! I cannot take it anymore. I tried to play Herald and I quite enjoyed it – surprisingly, since it is the less personalisable calss, – but the ground effects annoy me so much!!! They only cause anger and confusion… who in the world made this design choice…? We are fine by watching a player’s boons by looking at our group portraits or by targetting them, and it is more than enough! I do not understand WHY we do not get to at least have the choice of enabling/disabling thes atrocious ground effects (put a more distinguishable boon icon and remove these things, for Pete’s sake). Until something is done about them, I FERMLY boycott the Herald (and the Revenant overall, since most of the viable builds out there always include the Glint legend).

PS: I even get headaches from it if I play more than 20-30 minutes at a time. Just. Remove. The. Bloody. Ground. Effects. And. The. Orgue. Sound. Please, good people! It breaks our immersion…!

I like both the animation and the sound effect. I even like the effect being audible over other sounds.

But yes, more visual and audio options are one of the more important things this game needs (so I can finally kill other players’ Dreamers…).

Yeah this would be a nice halfway position. personally I find the ground effect and the audible drone super annoying to the point i stopped logging in.

Since glints skills are aktual signets…..why not a similar visual to all signet using classes?

Do i hear a uproar? Yeah, since the signets can be seen by anyone who targets you. Annoying pvp visuals……

I would be happier without the center disc. The outline of the circle/skills would be much more elegant.

As it stands (on the disc), enemy fields are hard to read, and tricky jumps are tougher to land.

Having it hidden outside of combat woult help too. Sometimes you can’t appreciate some of the tiny details around you because you don’t want to waste your swiftness skill.

In a game with already overdone spammy ground and particle effects, let’s add another ground effect that will have nearly 100% uptime so the player can’t see what field they’re standing on…..

I really want this option. The visual effect bothers me, but not as much as the “organ” music that goes with an active facet bothers me. I typically have the player instrument volume slider down to zero to disable the organ music, but then I miss the other instrument sounds that I do want to hear. I’d love to see an option to specifically disable/enable the Herald ground effect and accompanying sound.

Yep, this irritates the kitten out of me and a bunch of others as well, as evidenced by other threads complaining about the herald “drone”. It’s irritating as kitten and makes me not want to play the game.

Irritated me so much I stopped playing herald. My new spec only uses Facet of Nature for the boons.

Herald circle is fun when you sit in a bush and glow, but it sucks because the music makes the ingame combat music seem fun. Seriously tho, the combat music is like elevator music in this game. Check out Two Steps from Hell if you want to hear what potential is being missed.

The only use is to get 50 Heralds together so the effects overlap, then all do /dance theres no other usage. You are getting targeted so fast in WvW when using glint, its like “HELLO HELLO TARGET ME, NUKE ME, GANK ME HARDER”, meh.

As I have been playing my Herald a lot more lately, I’m finding this issue to be rising to the top of my GW2 wish list. I realize there are probably more “serious” issues or bugs the devs should pay attention to, but if I was Anet CEO for a day and could prioritize something to add to the game right now, I think it would be adding a toggle option to allow players to enable/disable the Herald ground effect and accompanying sound.

This effect is obviously a cosmetic one. Those who say otherwise are wrong.

See it that way:
You want to see what facets he has activated ? You can see them on his buff bars, which you SHOULD be keeping an eye on if you want to be at least half decent in PvP and WvW.
Also, trying to watch them on the floor is a bad idea, because it adds an information you need to gather on the screen. On top of the ennemieS positionS, you have to watch the boons on your target, and now, you have also to watch at the ennemy’s feet ?
No it’s not smart, nor remotely user friendly.

I really think it should be a disablable option for the player who don’t want to see it, the sound too, because it’s really annoying when you play your rev a lot. I stay a lot more on my ranger because of that particular reason. On my ranger ! I prefer playing a ranger over a rev, which is saying a lot, especially to you devs, who dislike the ranger so much you won’t even fix their bugs, people prefer playing them over your favorite newborn.

Reminds me of a thread where somebody complained about Embrace the Darkness icon.I also like the ground effect and wouldn’t want to see it go, like at all.

I highly doubt they’d make an option just for one effect. And introducing an option for a group of similar effects would surely cause some problems.

It doesn’t hurt to ask and to discuss it. If the dev team sees that this is a cause of concern and an ask from a growing percentage of Herald players, they may put some cycles into coming up with an option for us.

I understand that you wanted an easily identifiable indicator for the player and their allies, but I don’t see why that is necessary. It’s not like PS warriors wrap themselves up in giant posters of a bicep. Regular auras were even changed to reduce screen clutter, so why make the herald aura so unnaturally vibrant?

Maybe it’s because I didn’t play GW1 and don’t have any prior understanding of glint, but the current effect looks really out of place and goofy.

No it doesn’t. And you might be sliding around on the ground because instead of looking at what is around you, you are focusing on the ground. Maybe thats why you keep getting knocked down?

I’ve never been a fan of the ground effect, mostly because it could get in the way of seeing other ground effects. This happened to me quite a bit when I first started playing Revenant, and was particularly annoying when dealing with pocket raptors the first time (I’ve come to just be paranoid and expect that the pocket raptors are always there, watching…waiting…).

The hand glow is more a visual dislike than a gameplay one for me. I’d like to see those effects toggleable, either individually or collectively.

I’m more bothered by the weird sickly grunting sound I hear whenever I use Herald’s Elite. Wiki says Glint is supposed to say an actual line sometimes but I never hear it. Just that gross grunting.

An option to hide the middle circle would be perfect. I am really unsure how this whole tthing made it through their art department tbh, it adds no additional information and would be very hard to read quickly for information. There is no precedent for an effect like this for toggles in gw2 and 2d auras are otherwise non-existent. It’s fine if people like it because they just like 2d auras in general, but it’s simply not gw2 art style.
