I am having trouble disengaging from a 2v1. It seems right now, if I commit to a fight, I have to commit 100% because there is no way I can disengage.

Shiro evades work, but since the best builds won’t take shiro, you’re best off using herald swiftness and protection and running away, and using unyielding anguish to block a choke.

I hope shield 5 gets reworked to let you move, then it’d be a great disengage tool.

I personally think the best build is carrion herald. Glint Mallyx, mace/axe/sword. Herald, corruption, retribution.

Is basically the new spirit ranger, a condi bomber that brings lots of AoE protection to a team.

There’s a a lot of variation based on your playstyle, but enhanced bulwark, shared empowerment, the resistance trait, and the protection on CC trait are all required.

For runes, either scavenging, forge, or Balthazar can work, while I like using geo/leeching sigils.

Well, all my builds include Shiro, but I have to add that all my builds are DPS/tank, so maybe thats why we have different opinions… And yeh, Shiro and maybe Glint are good for disengaging fights, as the staff 3 and 5

Yes disengage is very difficult, I said right at the beginning that Phase Traversal should be the main dash/leap/jump/disengage by not requiring a target (and if necessary reduce range to 900).

A step was made in this direction by allowing it to work on targets in the distance, and I don’t think anyone has said it is strong at all after this change despite it essentially working like it doesn’t have a target. But it is still a little clunky as you have to zig zag between targets.

I don’t think asking for a targetless ability is too much compared to guardians, warriors, thieves, mesmers, and clever ele’s.

Riposting Shadows is useful to remove cripple/chill, but it is not a disengage as it still keeps you very much in combat range. I also don’t recommend buffing this ability at all because changing PT above will kill many birds with one stone.

The other alternative is to increase the range and reduce the cooldown of staff, but I feel PT would be far more balanced as it requires assassin stance (which imo fits the ‘disengage’ idea nicely). Glint elite is more of a support allies ability, especially with superspeed to allies, and in PvP is extremely easy to counter so I wouldn’t recommend that either. A PT mechanic change is my vote.

Well everybody have a different opinion but, an awesome build is just take Shiro/Herald with hammer and s/a, marauder amulet , yes a like glassy burst build , and the pressure potential of this setup is ridiculous, axe 4 and shiro 8 is virtually perma pressure, then when hp is low just use sword 3, at this point they are out of dodges and can’t stand it.

Step 1: Get yourself a Shiro.

Step 2: WvW – mark a squirrel/other critter which is far away with “call target”
PvP – let your team mark enemy target somewhere else on the map

Step 3: When in trouble, swap to Shiro, target previously marked foe/mosquito and spam the hell out of Phase Traversal

Step 4: GG, you’re now 5000 units from the threat

Doesn’t work on yourself. Super speed only is given to allies not yourself.

As to the question, Shiro is the answer which is why Shiro/Malyx was so popular for smaller time engagements.

I do that, then I get immobilized. Then I use the evade, which I need to remove immobilize, to evade straight back into the zerg that is chasing me down.

You misunderstand me. I’m suggesting that chaotic release should be changed to apply super speed to yourself as well as allies. All the years of playing necro have made me selfish.

What weapons are you using? there are various combos to do this

1) Glint: use Facet of Chaos passive to get prot then active to knockback, switch to shiro and use Phase retreat, always face to the opossing side you want to go
2) Glint: use Facet of Darkness active onto Chaos
3) Glint: use Facet of Chaos knockback then dash out of danger with staff 5
4) Staff: block using skill 3 then dash out with skill 4
5) Shield and Glint+Shiro: use Envoy of Exhuberance for some prot, then Crystal Hybernation and pop Facet of nature’s active in case they burst the break bar, then switch to shiro and phase retreat or jade winds

The good thing about revenant it’s that it has a ton of passive and active gameplay even with the not so great legends, you just need to experiment yourself depending on the situation, heck I managed to withstand 3v1 and down a player (though got resed) with marauder gear just by using LoS, managing energy and using shield+blinds+soft cc+cc for like 2-3 minutes, that’s quite impressive the only professions that can do that in the current metagame are eles and engis. And just to clarify no, I did not win the 3v1, but I stalled the opposing team and that has nothing to do with Revenant gameplay, it was a bad play on the other team they eventually died but it was because their team mates were left alone 2v1 and then my team just rushed in and won 4v1, those kind of plays are what wins or loses games.

The thing I love about the Revenant is its ability to stick to enemy’s in a fight. I think that should be its strength and its weakness should be exiting a fight.

With that said, If this is WvW/PvP, your best bet would be targeting an enemy far away from you and using phase traversal on Shiro. Easy in WvW, tricky in PvP.

The best way to disengage as a Revenant is to walk over your opponents’ corpses.

If you have shiro you can dodge use the 7 then dodge 7 dodge dodge 7 but if you’re not out by then you cant do anything because no energy/dodges.

If you have staff, as said above use the 3 then dodge into 5. If you have off hand axe then try to land it on an ambient or a mob. Our disengage is pretty bad if you dont have shiro/staff/axe off hand. I got ran over so many times when i kitten ed into a zerg

Disengaging is not difficult on a Rev. Stab on dodge + Shiro will get you away very fast. Impossible Odds is super speed this means it ignores combat you can literally toggle it on just to run away. Anyone in combat behind you will not be able to keep up. This is even easier in WvW. Need to run away really fast? Simply target one of the tons of PvE mobs around and use Phase Traversal select a new target and repeat. Then laugh as you now cover more distance in a short amount of time then any other class in the game.

@Griffith.7238 I second that. Nothing beats Shiro when it comes to disengage.
You could even use your elite to stun them if you feel like you’re going to hit, but using the other skills straight away is more reliable.
