Guild Wars 2

I mostly have been maining Guard/DH or Necro but I am really interested in trying out Revenant. It seems like there is a lot of hate around Revenant right now. It does seem like a lot of the nerfs were specifically to PVP (which I don’t play), so my question is, are Revenants still viable in Fractals/general PVE or have they been horribly nerfed in PvE as well? I don’t really have the time to raid right now so i’m not really worried about that mess, and WvW is basically dead everytime I go there. I know that both Guardian/Necro are good for Fractals but I’d just like a change of pace. I just want to know if i’m going to be wasting my time lvling up a Revenant.

Well, this is a hard one and I’m sure there will be people who are going to disagree with me but… I like my rev in PVE, dps is not the highest but I’d say it’s good enough + rev has a lot of utility with Glint (different boons etc.). And you can ‘cheat’ some stuff that would normally kill you with the Glint heal skill. Personally, I’m having lots of fun with rev but I don’t really do any of the ‘high end content’ (raids or high scale fractals, highest I’ve been on is 50).
As for your question, general PVE, you’ll have no problems, fractals up to 50, I personally had no problems either. For raids though, yeah, people don’t seem to like revs much lately. I guess someone who does the 50+ fractals and/or raids can tell you more about the current state of rev in those things. Honestly, I’m kind of interested in that as well, so if anyone here has experience with revs in that kind of content, let us know pls.

From my general understanding, raid groups/ higher-end Fractal runners stopped taking Revenants when Herald F2 was nerfed from 50% increased boon duration to 33% boon duration. Other classes were found more worthwhile to take over Revenant for dealing more damage and providing more boons… which is all that most Revs brought to the table back then seeing as how inviable other builds like Ventari or Jalis were/ are still currently.

To sum up everything, Rev’s problem in both PvE and PvP atm is that there isn’t another class that can’t do what Rev can do better, with less effort.

To be honest revenant is really viable in high tier fractals and I never seen a revenant been kicked or asked to reroll in fractals. I mean, is always usefull have One when you dont have any DPS check. It provide decent DPS, assassin presence, boon duration, any boon on demand (also resistence that is usefull for the instability) and very good cc.
So if you are planning to use it for fractals and dungeon do it.
If One day you want also to start raids… Maybe it Will bè viable again or you can always move your.gear in Warrior/dh
