I’ve been away from the game since about a month in to HoT’s launch and am picking up some fresh characters to ease my way back into the game. I loved the Revenant back on the Beta Servers and played around with one a little at launch, my point really is I’m just trying to find out if there’s anything I need to know about how the Profession has changed as I jump back into Tyria.

It’s been wrecked by Anet – is what most guys who say they played in Beta and BWE will say.

What I say – wait before coming back to Revenant, Anet has no clue what to do with the class, they seem to balance it only around Glint. I doubt this class will be properly balanced until we get 3 elite specializations for Rev ….. by then Anet would get a clue.

Things have gotten that bad eh? Well I guess that’s what happens when you bring in a class based entirely around the concept of “remember the old days” then again I’d imagine the servers are still chocked full of Reapers, Dragon Hunters and Chronomancers so anything different would be refreshing.

You literally have to try harder as a Revenant than other classes. You can get a kill 200% easier as a Dragonhunter/Berserker/Chrono/Reaper/Daredevil/Druid/Scrapper while watching Netflix. Mallyx/Resistance can only get you so far. Retribution/Jalis is useless. Hammer is too slow, Sword is too buggy, Staff is just horrible. All offhand weapons are bad with the shield the least horrible. Rev attacks are so predictable your enemy has to be completely new to get hit by it. Shiro/Glint Heals both nerfed, the current meta build offers no Stability and 1-3 Condi Clear.

If you love winning easy in PVP, don’t Rev or Ele.

Please… Revenant is a very good choose in pvp. And staff is a very good weapon, with one of the strongest, if not the stronger, cc in pvp, a condi clean+blast. A good AA and the block with the lower cooldown in the game.
Sword is buggy but is also very good, AA give a lot of damage out put, sword 2 can do really high damage vs single player or if you positionate yourself in the right way during a team fight. Sword 3 can be both High damage skill or good defensive skill.
If you are predictable with your skill is because you use them bad.
Shield is not horrible but very good, heals+ block+ protection. also sword off hand is good but less than shield.
Hammer is not really good in pvp but Shine in wvwv.
For the heals complain, Yes they were nerfed but revenant still has an High susistain

Shield is currently the worst off hand weapon the Herald has, at least in PvP/WvW roaming. Crystal Hiberbation roots you in the ground making you ultra vulnerable to conditions, plus kitten s your energy (cost 25 units, the most expensive weapon skill for the Herald, not even staff #5 comes close) and Envoy of Exuberance can’t compete with the mix of defense/ofense/cc that off hand sword and axe offers.

I guess that most of the players who run power Herald doesn’t worry about how terribad shield is against builds with conditions (Necros, Mesmers, Rangers… ) due they already known that those are lost battles anyway, but that doesn’t makes the shield a better choice.

Bec Axe and Sword offhand are much more horrible. That doesn’t mean Shield is great, its just everything else sucks. Kinda like the presidential election, they both suck, but you have to pick one to fill that slot.
