…how everyone here on the rev forum would be like 2 years ago and onward as a devout elementalist player who had to face THOUSANDS of nerfs in every single patch and hotfix. As an ele main, I believe us players now have the thickest skin when it comes to changes like these. I remember waiting anxiously before patch notes were up and then crying myself to sleep every night…

Jokes aside, everyone is hating on the 5 second cooldown… The rev threads sound exactly like how the ele thread was years ago when this nerf occurred:

Ride the Lightning skill:
Increased recharge increased 20 seconds to 40 seconds.
Recharge is now halved if the player strikes a foe.
Reduced the range to 1200 from the previous (hidden) 1550.

Now, THAT was a nerf

These changes are probably staying for the Rev, so everyone’s just going to have to keep riding the lightning (PUN)…

2) we aren’t against nerfs per se but against nerfs that hit class design. Giving more and more CDs on a class that was designed and intended to be without CDs and managed by energy is in stark contrast to what Rev was supposed to be. I am slowly feeling cheated more and more because the class is becoming less and less what it was marketted as. You don’t see ANet removing 1 of your attunements. You don’t see Thieves getting Cooldowns on their weapon skills (because they got INI and ini is like nergy).

Trust me, better nerf now then later when you are COMPLETELY used to having such awesome no CD skills. Get used to it now rather than later. We can always trust our awesome skills to be nerfed (appropriately).

EDIT: I’ve been on the rev forums for some time and have thankfully waited for the dust to settle on them as I am definitely making one. I am VERY glad I didn’t get to experience the pre-nerf PT… I would have probably cried myself to sleep as well xD

I agree… like I said being an ele main, I’ve learned ANet to be quicker to nerf nowadays hence why I’ve been holding off on creating my rev. Literally felt like I dodged a bullet on that one based off of the current forum reaction lol

You can only interrupt it at the beginning of animation (jumping) but not during the actual hitting. It has evade on it. You can force it out of it by having your back to a wall or similar obstacle so it bugs out.

It was interruptible in BWE1 and it was a total disaster. Easily counterable, useless, less damaging than AA and with no ability to control targets hit by it.

I already mentioned windup (jump) and that’s ok. Line of Warding is more along the lines of a wall as in it’s an object UA bugs out on.

I just finish playing spvp and i think more players are now understanding how to counter the UA most of my attacks now are evaded and i feel like a wet noodle. Once i encounter a player that familiar with rev they focus me instead of other professions. So to those players here in forum that QQ that rev are unbeatable i think those are the pve players playing pvp just for the sake of dailies.

Would be better if you actually posted something constructive instead of a useless rant.

Understand that unlike other classes Rev is stuck with a Legend’s skills. If they make 1 skill bad then you’re stuck with it.

You lack knowledge if you think no one cares about how I feel. AN does care about how I and many other players feel but GG showing you know nothing about how businesses operate.

You think class is fun. That’s your opinion. I can have mine. Sorry it tramples on your fragile feelings that you cannot handle someone elses differing opinion.

Few days post launch is not enough data. That’s obvious you don’t gather data in 5 days about entirety of pvp/pve/wvwvw and all other elite specs developing. Something that would take them months suddenly takes 5 days? Who are you trying to kid? Yourself?

I’ll agree and disagree with both of you.

Please provide more constructive criticism – we all know what it’s like to 3rd person view a class being nerfed and not affecting you and also being on the receiving end – both mindsets are at different spectrums at that point.

But, I do believe that 5 days (don’t forget we’ve had beta) is definitely enough time to know if a skill needs to be nerfed or not (Also note that Revs aren’t the only one who has been nerfed the past couple of days, and hell, Revs haven’t been hotfixed yet like some other classes have had to (from my current knowledge)). Especially since HoT is now live, I’m sure TONS of data was gathered enough for ANet to realize that the skill might have needed tweaking. I won’t judge by how they tweaked it, but I won’t say that it wasn’t justified.

And just for general knowledge, ANet actually has a select guild(s) who do selective testing for them behind the scenes. They are typically the top guilds of the servers and ones who compete in tournaments. Most of their decisions are probably based off of what they see from them as well during PvP matches and such.

I agree – I’m stunned as to how many people have been complaining of a couple of things that doesn’t fit their needs here and there and then being catered to. ANet was nowhere near this responsive 2 years ago. I completely understand the grief people feel when your favorite class gets nerfed and it’s definitely hard to look at it from the other side of the fence when you’re so upset your favorite skills have been crap-tized. I’ve grown to accept that playing a class that was always shining (ele). I am so thankful we are out of that spotlight now. (looking at you, chronomancers and reapers)

Behaving like what? We are having discussions across different threads. People don’t throw insults left and right or anything of the sort. Sometimes people are more agreeable and sometimes not. We are having cultural discussion tbh.

I actually main engineer and Rev is secondary. I am also not using only Shiro (got full setup for mallyx and ventari and herald as well)

I wish this were the case as well as for every other class that has issues similar to this.

The one thing that pops at the top of my head is that annoying “No Valid Path To Target” when a thief uses infiltrator strike with the shortbow… and it uses initative and you are in the same place. SO ANNOYING!

There was a really interesting Dev post about skills like that a few weeks back, talking about the multiple path checks they go through. Iirc, what happens in a case like that is the first check passes, but then the second one fails, because one or both of the parties moved.

If that’s the case, I wonder why they can’t use the initial check as a fallback for the result of the skill use. For example, your target is moving. The initial check is ok, but the second one fails, so instead of moving to the exact spot they are you go to the location from the first check.

The problem is, as stated elsewhere, that we were designed with the energy mechanic. And then adding cool downs as well seems to defeat the purpose of the energy mechanic.

Seriously, the only time energy really mattered to me so far is when I’m using upkeeps. Otherwise, it was the cooldowns that made the difference, and energy hasn’t mattered so far.

If it needs to be nerfed, that’s fine, just don’t turn the energy management system into an afterthought.

I main mesmer…just recently been taking a vacation with rev when HoT dropped…i know nerfs and bugs cough cough mesmer bugs thread cough cough. Playing Rev just feels like normal business to me XD lol

Rangers probably are the most beaten up class because they face the rather of the pvp community and anet alike. And lets not forget the numerous bugs rangers face on top of the broken pet mechanic.
