From the recent Wooden Potatoes video, it got me thinking… If I could choose 2 additional legends to bring back from the original Guild Wars… who would I pick? These would be my 2:

Razah – Epic Human Ritualist with tattoos and unique looking armor

Varesh Ossa – A cunning Human/Demon Dervish/Paragon. She’s also very stylish :-P (wishes to have her armor as a skin set for my mesmer)

Wouldn’t it be awesome if, in a future far, far away, there was a second expansion – and with it, brought 2 more legends for the Revenant? We can always dream anyway.

If YOU could bring back 2 additional legends for the Revenant, who would you choose?

Edit: Didn’t know which forum would be appropriate for this, General Discussion, Heart of Thorns, or the Revenant, being as it’s kind of related to all 3.

While I would love Archemorus and Saint Viktor, there’s very little to go on to make them thematic.

Well at least I’d love Kuunavang, with celestial skills, and Oola with some golem abilities.

I disagree. Archemorus would make a fantastic Polearm specialization for PBAoE and offensive support, and Saint Viktor would be a fantastic candidate for a defense/utility support with a Focus.

Razah – Epic Human Ritualist with tattoos and unique looking armor.

Razah is a demon construct of the mists, not a human fyi.

Wiki says he’s human, just mist-formed – ie, he was not born, but created – for whatever reason – from the raw stuff that is referred to as ‘the mists’

so he’s as human as anyone, just… extraordinary

Razah is a rather special case, as his birth was like that of a demon, but because of Abaddon’s demise, he came to be a blank slate of sorts. The wiki doesn’t say Razah is human, only that by game mechanics he’s recognized as a human. Lorewise, he’s no more human than sylvari are – both are in more or less the shape of a human, but that doesn’t make them quite human. His birth was by all facts that of a demon.

Razah is not a demon.

“The protomatter that makes up the Mists strains toward creation, often spawning demonic creations in nightmarish forms. Not all creatures from the Mists are demonic, however. When the Mists come into contact with a suitable human template, for example, it can copy that form, creating a sentient entity with humanoid appearance and an almost human mind.

Razah is one such creation. It has sprung into being a fully-formed adult. It has the knowledge and capabilities of a human, but lacks common sense. As a result, it asks odd questions about human emotions, contemplates human motivations, and attempts to duplicate human mannerisms. Razah is a contradiction: more than human in some ways, and less than human in others. It needs an identity, a personality, and a purpose. Hopefully, it will find its purpose by working with a hero. Otherwise, it could degenerate into an abomination as monstrous and inhuman as its demonic brethren"

Viktor was a warrior though. It’s not because the Kurzick use his ashes as relic, that he had anything to do with it.

It’s still part of his legacy and would be irreplaceable in his kit.

Or do you mean to suggest that Jalis could make roads out of nothing and summon flying hammers. Hell, even the Rite of the Great Dwarf doesn’t stem from his natural talents – it’s merely a part of his legacy and his ultimate choice.

Jalis was nothing more than a generic warrior mechanically. Ventari didn’t even fight. The goal of a legend’s kit is to build a theme around that character, not to directly port their former abilities.

And why is this? It’s because a legend isn’t just a person. It evolves with their lives and expands with their deaths as their stories are told.

If Shiro is there, I think his “buddy” Khilbron aka The Lich should be there too (buddy as in they were both tricked to be part of the 2 biggest events that put Abaddon closer to returning and they even teamed up against the player character in Nightfall).

Master Togo would be great too.

Honestly, as a side point, I don’t like how legends are being managed, because each legend has its own trait line and also as there is a limit to total utility skills, you can’t have more than a close number of legends. I would’ve liked a system that allowed us to see a lot more legendary characters from the old days.

I would like a knight legend that has greatsword and lots of defense/Support hybrid role skills for melee damage and defending allies and healing them.

a mage legend that deals ranged dps with scepter as a fast ranged dps weapon.

I know 2 but have to add.

2hander Axe Shadow Knight with Soul minions and melee dps.

The fact remains that we know a lot about Jalis and Ventari, but nothing about Viktor and Archemorus, other than that they were heroes to their people and both stabbed Shiro with one of his blades. There is little lore-wise to work with.

Everyone anticipates the elite to be glint, at this point.
I’m not sure rurik was really, well, epic enough to be the elite. He was dead by the time you got to kryta, and only made that sad little reappearance as the half-baked precursor to the real end boss

Razah – Epic Human Ritualist with tattoos and unique looking armor.

Razah is a demon construct of the mists, not a human fyi.

I was just going by what the Gw2Wiki described him as. Razah could originally be a demonic orange flamingo from the magical land of purple spaghetti, taking the form of a human for all I care >_< – to me his creature type is irrelevant. But yes, I was going by the wiki so as to not get my facts wrong. If I am wrong though, blame the wiki, not me.

Edit: Regardless of what creature type he is, if, like you say, he’s constructed from the mists, there is even more reason for Razah to be a Revenant legend! As Revs are all about the mists (disclaimer: well, they’re not ALL about the mists. It’s an aspect of where they’re from, but you know what I mean…)

“Razah was created by mimicking a human, not born; it has no gender. Although its species is unknown, the game treats it as human; in particular, Razah will transfer disease to or from other human party members.”

From the wiki.

I like Razah as much as the next person, but by being a jack of all trades it doesn’t have a strong enough theme to make a legend out of imo.

While I like seeing characters from GW1 again, legends that predate even those would be interesting as well. Or characters that were present then but not seen (IE: Menzies or potentially Arachnia, depending on what happened to them).
Of the GW1 characters though, it’d probably be Nicholas and Jora.

Gone for good after Halloween 2Ø12.
A shame fun things could not simply be fun.

- The Guild Wars Nightfall Manuscripts

He is a sentient entity of the mists built as a human construct. It does say that if it does not have a purpose then it can degenerate into a demon.

I never did say he was a demon, much less demonic.

“Demons are more than creatures of the Mists – they are made from the Mists themselves, bits of etheric matter that have gained malignant sentience and power. "

-The Guild Wars Nightfall Manuscripts

What I’m saying is that how Razah came to be is the exact same way demons come to be. However, unlike ordinary demons, he was born as an empty slate, tabula rasa. In addition, we have no name for sentient entities born of the mists without that malignity. Razah is the only sure case of such that we know of – Fractals of the Mists might house them, but we don’t know how sentient the entities in those are (it would be rather horrifying if they are fully sentient, indeed).

What it comes down to is that out of the two groups, human and demon, Razah is closer to demon in nature, even if he is very humane. In a way, he’s the polar opposite of margonites – a humane demon (pardon me for using the word here) as opposed to demonic humans.

Also, do note that demonic and demon are not synonyms.
