Thinking of buying for the said above reason, but want those who play the class to give their opinion first.

I personally bought it for herald. I’m enjoying it. The new maps are a bonus even though I do not enjoy the first new map.

Rev is easily becoming one of my fave classes. For me it seems like a mix of guardian and Engi so if you like those classes you may like it. If not maybe not….

Just for rev? No. Not for the price it’s up for.

I felt that the class is still under development. Shall play other classes first until it is ready, no doubt Rev is a good class that can being a fair to the table for its party members. However with legends missing underwater, the wall collision cancelling skills, these factors just pushes me away from truly enjoying the class.
BUT rev is definitely worth the experience.

Revenant is great but yeah it has a few buggy skills. If you can look past that though its very rewarding once you unlock herald and perma boons is pretty nice. Its ranged weapon is one of the best in the game imo and the sword auto attack is extremely powerful.

Edit: I should say this is because the class is still riddled with bugs and balance issues. Wait till the dust settles if you want to buy the xpansion for the class alone

Revenant is a blast, but part of what makes it fun for me is that the new stuff is more of a challenge. You have all these cool things you can do and you actually need to use them to survive on a near-constant basis.

I am certainly getting my moneys worth.

I would, however, discourage you from buying the expansion JUST for the revenant. If you don’t want to play with the new maps and raids and other features and it turns out you don’t like the rev, your money is completely wasted.

So don’t buy it just for rev. Buy it for everything else too. Or don’t.

the story is bad, masteries are a grind and pvp balance is pretty much ruined (although that has nothing to do with buying the expansion or not). is the expansion worth the price for revenant only? no, it’s not even worth the money for the whole thing. do yourself a favor and wait until the price goes down.

the only things that are good are the visuals and the 3d models.

To answer the OP, no, you shouldn’t buy for just the Rev, but it’s fun as hell, especially in the open world. There is plenty of more to the expac, don’t let the haters disuade you too much.

They are hating on a game they probably have 60 hours on in 5 days. At that rate of gameplay we basically paid a dollar an hour.

OP if you have to ask, either the Revenant is incredibly enticing to you and you just want to confirm it vs the reality, or you’re only mildly interested in the rest of the expansion besides the Revenant.

If the former and the Revenant is calling to you, it’s absolutely your money’s worth. Sometimes impulse purchase can be great even if on the surface it doesn’t appear to be worth the asking price. Just go for it if you know you want it.

If the latter and HoT just isn’t lighting your fire, the Revenant in its current form definitely isn’t going to change that. It’s still too young and has birthing fluids still clinging to it that need to be sorted out.

I’m enjoying rev, but it feels abit too squishy, and the auto sword attack needs a longer range.

There is no class in any game that deserve 40 pounds! don’t be a sheep. Revenant is a fun class indeed but there is other fun too. The think that revenant has and make him special is the absence of personalisation in utilities. I personnaly never was really involved with builds even in gw1 so it like it but it’s true that you have less option than other classes. But if you want to buy the expansion focus on story, new maps. A class alone never deserve 40 pounds.

Revenant is by far the best Tank in the game. If you like tanking play Rev.

i’m not hating on the expansion. i’m just looking at it with an objective view.
there are good and bad things in HoT, things that you like and things that i like.

all i’m saying is that he should wait for the price to drop as the expansion is not worth its full price off 44€, much less for just the revenant. Infact, half it and it would be a fair price.
