Wondering if it can happen. I know you really need to rely on your teammates, but I havent see a good build or video on how to play condi rev properly. And wouldn’t u just die to bunkers and never really get anywhere?

Well I guess im also asking, is mallyx better than celestial rev in winning games? I just wana master something and get out of ruby. I am in tier 2 of ruby and im stuck here

Well apparently Mallyx is pretty much meta in high tiers, so i guess yes.
But since the mid tiers are kinda strange, this might vary.
If you feel confortable with it, it should be totally possible.

To be honest it really depends on the enemy composition you go against. Most necros especially ones running celestial signet can really shut a mallyx rev down without too much effort. I recently hit diamond with my rev and I did most of my climbing on Power Shiro. I’ll swap out glint for mallyx in the event I see the enemy team has at least 2 eles or 2 mesmers. Banish Enchantment and Embrace the Darkness are almost paramount in my opinion when dealing with this current bunker meta.

I run Enhanced Bulwark over Soothing bastion. I find bastion can really screw up my rotations even when my health is getting low .(Usually have ele friend on point with me to keep me going) You’re also running the tankier amulet for that build. I run Vipers for for damage on sword. I’ve been able to hit 1k auto attacks on squishy targets non crit with viper amulet. Plus it helps peel diamond skin off of eles so that you can drop torment bombs on them with mallyx.

I tested some rotation ideas around on the golems in the dps trials just to get a feel for axe/mace and seeing what would combo best. Some basic tips I can provide are this.

Mace 2/Axe 5 should cover as much of a point as possible. Usually you will have to aim those skills in front of your target if they are strafing that way you have a better chance of it landing.

Axe 4 is an amazing chaser especially when paired with Phase Travel in Shiro Stance.

But here’s my personal break down if I’m caught in 1v1 scenarios.

Ele/Auramancer – I start with Sword/shield use Enchanted daggers and Unrelenting assault to burst down their diamond skin. Force them into water attunement and when they pop their heals swap to mallyx and auto attack away on sword. Once they break under 90% swap to mace/axe and spam Embrace the Darkness and banish enchantment. Also use frigid blitz to keep chill on them and the #5 on axe for CC. Spam the AA for torment and poison and eventually you will win the battle of attrition.

Chronobunker – Axe/mace or S/Sh. I prefer axe/mace to condi stack. If your running enhanced bulwark save a dodge for when you see the gravity well drop. Then spam your AA on mace and the #2/3 for might stacking and extra fire/torment. Use embrace the darkness when then use an evade. The pulsing attacks from embrace the darkness are unavoidable so you can keep stacking torment. They will eventually melt like the Eles. The perk here is you don’t have to worry about them having any sort of condi immunity.

Mally/Shiro rev – The best way to deal with this match up is to keep torment on them and burning from your attack skills. If you see them swap to shiro and equip s/sh swap to mallyx immediately and cast banish enchantment. If you can try and double cast it and dodge roll while they attack. Confusion procs 7x on Unrelenting assault so that damage will usually melt them and put them in a very bad spot. From there its just keeping up the condi dps and stripping Resistance with banish enchantment.(They can also do this to you so try keep the pressure going that way they have to play on the defensive end.)

Scrappers – Your AoEs are your friends here. unyielding anguish, Mace 2, Axe 5, Embrace the Darkness. Boon strip often and keep the pressure on them. If they start getting your HP under 50% swap to S/sh and shiro stance for some healing and ED + UA combo.

That’s my basic plan when dealing with the current meta setups.

Oh totally forgot this thread. No, unfortunately no video. I’d say watch the video of the pro league but they don’t follow one person long enough to actually get a deep understanding of the build unless you are really experienced.
Anyway, give a read to the build description on metabattle, this is a good starting point. After that you need to get some experience so just dive in the games with those tips in mind and try to apply them (“x situation requires y skill or skill combo” look out for those situation and try to react accordingly): the more you play the more this will become easy and natural.
This actually isn’t Rev related but can be applied to any class/build
