So the Elementalist is getting 40% protection on basically each attunement overcharge. Why the only source of protection for Revenant is Jalis elite, that costs a whoopping 50 energy and has a huge casting time?

Tempest is just an example. A lot of classes have very easy access to defensive boons.
Like Guardian (well, we can say Tempest is the new Guardian)

Why Revenant is so fragine? Is it on purpose? Class design?

i second that – Jalis was supposed and “advertised” as “tanky” but actually it is not … the super expensive Elite and the traited short taunt doenst make him tanky imho

he needs definitively some source of protection and retailliation – atm there is neither some kind of toughness increase traitable (some thing what i would expect for some kind of tanky guy)

Yet Jalis has the only condi cleanse in the class, so atm EVERY BUILD is forced to use Jalis.
Even Mallyx builds.

I seriously hope Elite Legend has some condi cleanse, or we won’t be able to use Shiro+Elite.

Legends should have passive effects. Like Jalis making you immune to crits is a nice idea, or Mallyx can stack an effect for each condition obtained and power up with those stacks instead of actual conditions (so if it get cleansed by allies you don’t waste everything). This way you can also add condi cleanse on Mallyx.
Shiro could get some life siphon baseline instead of the trait, and Ventari auto-tablet summon on invoking and a boost to healing power.

But but..“passive effects didnt worked with legends..” Yeah whatever. I wonder why that stuff working with ele and doesnt work with revenant.

But hey, Mallyx will save us. Rebember to put 20 stacks of bleeds on yourself so you can copy one stack every second for 3 second! So OP, i will destroy all these poor eles.

Shiro is so strong too. Want to kill yourself? Roll Shiro, attack someone with retal up>profit.

Protection and retaliation fit Jalis like a glove, yet, there’s so little of either of them. It seems to me that they are trying to find alternative, more visually-striking mechanics to replace boons with the Revenant. So, in a way, transforming allies into stone is their own version of protection and vengeful hammers is their own version of retaliation (likewise, staff #2 is another variation of retaliation’s flavor).

Sure, there’s always retribution’s traits, but they feel kind of underwhelming. Protection is tied to incoming disables, retaliation only lasts for 2 seconds and the grandmaster retaliation trait has almost nothing to synergy with.

They should rework retribution’s trait line much the same way they reworked invocation’s fury traits.

3s Protection on disable with 5s cooldown is amazing – I play Engi and we have the same trait. I’m not trying to defend anything else about Jalis though…like the horribly long cast time on the elite…

It’s an amazing trait, yeah, but it’s only really going to see any use in SPvP or WvW, for PvE it’s pretty crap, because you don’t often get CC’d in dungeons, and when you would/were going to be CC’d, you normally always want stability instead.

It should be more like https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Protective_Ward but on a shorter ICD imo. not entirely sure why Ranger got this trait over revenant, seems like the perfect trait for Jalis.

I see them being somewhat a small mitigation in pvp, but those traits are worthless in pve.
