Just split pvp and pve
Its not just revenants. PVE mesmers have been killed, also. Actually, you can say that about a lot of the classes.
True. Mesmers were heavily gutted, but they still retain their function of providing quickness/alacrity. I know it’s not ideal to be just that but I still feel like they are better in most things (other than damage) than revenant.
I honestly feel like the only other class in the same situation is theif, everything else still retains their pve viability
Game balancing around Pvp is killing revenant, it is in the top 3 weakest classes in pve despite being top teir in pvp. Revenant literally does like 15k dps, the only reason to even bring one is 50% boon duration.
where did you get the 15k dps information from? its false.
The class is still riddled with bugs you guys haven’t bothered to fix and the constant unnecessary nerfs just make me want to not even play it again.
unnecessary nerfs because of pvp is completely true and anet should really split the balance. i agree with that.
but Honestly I find the nerfs to revenant ridiculous when the only thing happening to elementalists is that they are getting buffs despite already being the most rediculously overpowered class capable of doing over 40k dps now
also true
i got it from personal tests on golem, though i was not testing out every buff, just ones you’d realistically have
They have PvP/PvE balance split in GW1 there’s no reason it can’t be done here as well.

The had PvP/PvE split in GW2 also but got rid of it a while ago. Presumably to make it easier for the developers.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
I don’t remember them ever having a true pvp/pve split and i’ve played since release.
I remember them having full sets of pvp armor, but never a true split between skills like guild wars one had. Arena net has proven that the way they handle things, this just isn’t sustainable unless they split it. Because otherwise you end up with way underpowered/ overpowered classes.
Look at ele, it’s a god. Unkillable in pvp and almost twice the damage of any other class in pve.
Revenant, slaughters people in pvp, But is almost completely unviable for high end content in pve. This is a joke of a balance.

I know skills had different effects in pvp vs pve. For eg retaliation is weaker. Guardian Dodge roll healed for different amounts in pvp vs pve (i think they normalized it recently)

Also confusion do 50% damage in pvp and WvW
It really needs to happen but I doubt it will because this has been an issue since day 1 of gw2 and has yet to be fixed.
revenant – Hoogles Von Boogles
Mesmer – hoogelz
I had played Rev in PvP sine HoT. Thanks to Condi,Skillless Bunker Meta i moved to PvE after the last Patch. I wanted to play Rev in PvE too. You know what, i moved to Tempest after one day. Rev is horrible in PvE. Absolutely Zero Fun to play. Now i play Fresh Air Dagger/X Ele and Staff for some Contents.
As a PvP player i was blaming PvE for horrible Balancing. Now i blame PvP for the same Reason. PvE is much more easy to balance. They should split all aspects of the Game and give atleast the biggest Community (PvE) a Viable Build on all classes.
Revenant should be more then F2.
I don’t know which realistic buffs you were using, but there has to be something wrong if you’re getting 15k on a Herald and 40k on Tempest.

You can actually get almost 50k dps, I said 40k because that’s actually realistic. If you don’t think tempest can do 40k dps then you need to learn the class.
As for the buffs, I used fury, spotter, banners, quickness, Empower allies, assassins presence, grace of the land at 3 stacks, and might

yeah pressing 1 and 7 on jalis hammers is so hard. plz teach me this complicated rotation. I was obviously exaggerating a little, but the point still stands. still in the 3 weakest classes
revenant is number 4 in the dps rankings. if you combine personal dps + dps added from revenant buffs, rev needs a little buff, but “in the 3 weakest classes” isnt true at all.

L0L no, no it isn’t.
Tempest
Theif
Engineer
Guardian
Condi reaper as well as power reaper infact.
All stronger than revenant. The only things weaker than revenant is ps warr, druid, and mesmer Sorry I should have said it’s the 4th weakest class.
Even then, pretty much every class brings more to a party than a revenant. The only reason to even bring one is boon duration

looks like you have a long way to go in terms of pressing 1 and 7
You realize u can throw any number on a spreadsheet and say you did extensive testing. I’m calling bs that a rev can even come anywhere close to 30k dps on anything less than full buffs
(edited by The one to Rule.2593)
With the buffs you listed you won’t get 40k on elementalist unless you’re testing on the 1M golem, which provides unrealistic results due to an extremely bursty opening.
On the 4M HP Golem, and without taking advantage on tricks like precasting an Ice Bow, you should be getting “just” slightly above 30k on a large target and even less on a normal one.
Those same buffs should be enough for the Herald to be really close if not above 20k DPS.

Well, at the beginning we were not here to talk about “how to calculate real DPS of a class with a kikimeter”, but, I remind it because some people seams to have forgotten that, Revenant is a piece of kitten in PvE End Game!
Weel, I’ll explain to you:
- In order to complete the “not meta” events in each map of HoT in solo mode you cannot / must not use berserker’s Trinkets, Armors and Weapons, or you will die every 5 mobs. So you go in Cavalier’s Armor… And so your DPS in highly decreased.
- If you tell me “Try to learn how to dodge and block then” I’ll say ok. But keep in mind that every maximum 15 minutes in PvP you can pause. In PvE no. So you should be able to do damage during a couple of hours and not be obliged to die and go rez.
I feel the same with a Power Engineer in solo mode in HoT maps. Frustrated…
For HoT PvE content, best class are Ranger (for the pet) and Necro (for the shroud AND these overpowered shouts that can provide you to have 500 toughness more than a guardian in a complete Zerk armor!
Don’t you agree?

it wasnt spreadsheet wars. it was a test on the golem. and the 23.5k with realistic buffs is far higher than your 15k and in the top 4.

It’s not a good calculation to be fair.
For some weird reason, the herald test, unlike for other classes, is done with perma alacrity which allows to use #2 more frequently and inflates the final results.
In any case, over 20k are totally possible, and that’s still a lot higher than 15k.

its a good calculation because its “realistic”. the revenant will always be in a party with a chrono. and the dps difference without alacrity is insignificant

But many times it will be just with the chrono, in which case he could easily be missing many of the other chosen buffs.
I don’t know, even if Herald isn’t exactly the class that benefits the most from alacrity, I find kinda unfair to make DPS comparisons using different boon setups.
well you would lose like 500 dps at most. and there are builds, or lets say rotations with slightly higher dps output than the one i used in the video. its all situational.
also if you go 4-4-2 rev wont miss any of the chosen buffs.
the thing is, yes revenant needs a little dps buff, but the class is not as kittenome people make it seem to be.

Totally agreed
I wonder how many “split PvE and PvP” posts there have been that just get ignored…
I see these posts crop up all the time and Anet remains silent on the matter. It’s slowly killing game balance and the introduction of more elite specs is only going to complicate matters.
Even with all the outcries for a split, I doubt it will ever happen. With the postponing of legendary weapons, I’ve pretty much lost all optimism for my hopes for the game.
