The weapon energy cost is quite fair for the HoT weapons.
The Renegade’s energy cost is out of place though, most likely because Anet rushed it and didn’t have time to balance it properly.

It just means renegade will be unusable in wvw/spvp just like how ranger spirits don’t see the light of day in either of those formats.

You don’t even need to destroy them, just AOE Fear (that is very common in all game modes, even PvE) is enough to waste 50 energy in half a second.
Needs to be indestructible or spec won’t see use in pvp, wvw.

Those also are what mesmer damage is balanced around, they make around half or more of their total DPS. Unlike revenant.
Don’t even pretend like mesmers are better than rev in teamfights in WvW.
All mesmer is good for in a zerg is 180 cd moa signet to pin snipe and portal/veil, both of which are 60+ sec cd skills.
