Make Surge of Mists Ground Targeted
Actually that’s a really good idea. I’ve already become afraid to even equip my staff in some parts of Verdant Brink. I’ve gone flying off a few cliffs already because my character wasn’t facing exactly the same way as my camera. And no, I’m not about to keep the camera fixed, either, it makes me dizzy when it whips around all the time.
didn’t have any issues with it and without ground targeting it’s a lot more responsive so i’m against this.
weaponswap cancels the skill in case you’re about to fall off a cliff btw
it might take a bit of practice, maybe playing with burning speed for such a long time helped a lot.

I agree. I like it as it is and feel that making it ground targeted would slow it down. However, I have heard the suggestion of it moving in the direction of your camera rather than the direction your character is facing, and this could be useful perhaps.

I also like it untargeted.
I have no problem with it. Just hold RMB and face the direction you want to go.
I would love to have it like whirlwind attack but..that will make it too op. Right now its hits hard cus its hard to aim, easy to miss. In good hands howered it does awful high damage on top of cc so basically you cant escape it unless you get stunbreak with stab.
It would have to be nerfed at this point.

The last thing we need is more ground targeted abilities. I have no issues facing the direction i want to go.

Eh, I would agree with this idea, but there would need to be some tweaking of the numbers.
There’s a huge payout currently for landing the skill, but the balance is that the skill can be very clunky and difficult to land at times.
I’m against making it targeted.
Takes the fun and skill out of it if you can just zip off in any direction without so much as a tell. That is just my personal feelings.
If you are falling off cliffs using it, that’s a “l2p” situation and I don’t mean that in a mean or condescending way… just stop using the skill near/facing cliffs and ledges or aim it better. Ground targeting wont fix that, you will still shoot off a cliff.

Feels similar to the problem Daredevil staff 2 had, it is slightly clunky in a way and is sometimes unreliable when trying to follow up a combo sword 3 swap staff 5.
It’s also kind of annoying that it pushes people off to the sides of the skill unless you land it dead center but that does give it a sort of “pseudo skill gap for use”.
I wouldn’t mind if it went towards my target similar to heart seeker because it would still have the best of both worlds without being too crazy where you just poof to the side without any telegraph.
Staff #5 should have the same targeting option like Warrior’s GS #3 (Whirlwind Attack).
Too often I found myself missing target cause I was slightly turned right/left away of my target.
It works exactly like d/d ele’s fire #3, which I adore.
