I was too busy leveling my elementalist to test out the reverent so I tried to read some of the threads on this forum which mostly talks about revenant in current meta and this is OP and that replaces this already existing role – as a new player all that goes over my head and my noob question still remains: how does this class FEEL?

How is the mobility? How is the AoE capabilities? Single target dps? Is it a combo spamming class like the elementalist (one ability links with another and another to work in synergy to rack up massive dps, but underwhelming on its own) or is it more about spamming a couple abilities that are superior to the rest so nothing else needs to be used to be effective?

its like half an ele (being able to switch utilities instead of attunement) but not many combos + a mix of thief (in terms of feel/energy and mobility but only with target avail) but no stealth plus a lil warrior/guard. It’s its own beast. Like a mage spellsword sort of.

There rly isnt comparison class. The aoe is strong but not alot of it. Rev felt great to play and rewards experienced players. It might be hard for the novice to use to the fullest.

Imo the main thing rev lacks is a way to pressue and desiege walls in wvw.

The Revenant sits in a rather interesting spot Feeling-wise.

Unlike the other professions, the Rev can quickly set up to counter or fight in a variety of ways, but it’s limited to choosing sets of abilities, as opposed to being able to cherry pick abilities.

Mobility – Shiro
Boons – Glint
Conditions – Mallyx
Healing – Ventari
Self Defense – Jalis

You can choose two of these at any time (once you unlock them of course).

In terms of Damage, that really boils down to your choice of weapons. Hammer for Range and AoE, Mace for Condi, Sword for Single Target and Staff for all around.

Combo Fields, while not as big of a thing as it is for the Elementalist, do play an important role for the Rev due to the lack of Boon-generation that other classes so easily come by (Assuming your not taking Glint).

Overall, I’d say the class is feeling strong. Strong enough that the current Meta is going to be disrupted by the Revenant showing up on the field, but not so strong that it will be #1 and akin to a god like being.
