My feedback from playing Shiro rev
Sword#2 is an obstacle and a waste of energy. Aside from that it’s good. A little buff to #3 to make it worth the energy would be fine. Atm it’s weaker then AA

I thought I’d hate sword #2 but I actually like it so much. almost 2k extra damage every 5 seconds, still couldn’t find out if it hits stealthed units :p
It’s not extra damage, it lowers your dps compared to just AA. And you also spend energy.
For some reason, I think sword #3 should be placed in the #2 slot. Not sure why, probably because #2 skills are damage skills for other weapons/ professions, while #3s tend to be more utility-driven.

Turns out it does hit stealthed foes, tells their location. And it’s good damage, it’s not like you are always close to your opponent.
I agree with Kidel, I do more damage with an auto attack for free. Sword #2 is in a bad spot right now
But kitten , staff autoattack + Impossible Odds or Vengeful Hammers is more than enough to kill haha
I hate the sword auto animations. The first AA is the warrior sword 3 and it looks ridiculous.
The second AA makes you stand in a tight line so you can’t strafe at all if you want the damage

The stealth thing is interesting (but maybe a bug).
The good damage is simply not true. Do the math, AA is much stronger and free.

I’d definitely AA if they are close enough, however I doubt #2 is a bug, it may be like guardian gs #5
If you are close enough to use #2, you can practically auto attack.
Sword #2 sure does look freaking sweet though, doesn’t it!? LOL, I’m actually going to end up using it just for the anims on it!
I don’t find it good in pve at all. It’s lacking something.
In my personal opinion the heal skill should get tweaked a little bit. The one second delay just feels too much for me.
my 2 cents on the Revenant PvE wise generally : Props to ArenaNet for improving the profession, for reals, awesome that they react to our feedback, but to be honest, anytime I do PvE content with the Revenant and switch to another profession it feels so much better just because of the DPS alone. I know it’s all new n stuff but it still does not feel as viable as the other professions.

Maybe if they increased range a bit then? S/S could use some ranged options, a bit like Dancing Dagger on Thief.

Sword 3 is a lot of fun against burn guards. They just have to put down purging flames and see the rev go down.
I agree mostly with opening post.
I don’t like the healing skill though. I feel it doesn’t heal enough personally. Or something is off. Sword 1 and 3 are best. Sword 4 Part 1 is amazing but Part 2 needs a buff. Sword 2 needs a buff. Sword 5 is good but you have to know to use 5 first and then 3 to get back to the enemy.
The Utility skills are very much utility. That said, they are all passable.

Yeah playing a bit more, I think a little bit more to healing would help a lot.
Sword 3 is definitely low on damage. I feel like I do nothing compared to mace/axe, which is what I use for damage most of the time.
sword 3 needs an invul, anybody familiar with heroes of the storm might have seen the new monk with his 7 sided strike that looks similar, you become untargetable while using this skill. should also apply for the revenant’s skill.
the overall healing of the class is still bad and needs improving and so does the dps. giving the class a toggle quickness doesn’t make up for the low damage. if a necro attacks with a dagger he crits for 3-4k, if a revenant attacks he crits for 1,5k.

Here’s the questions I have:
- If you are attacking a single target, how much damage does it do when compared to other “big hit” single target melee attacks?
- If you are attacking five guys, how much damage does it do when compared to a single circular AoE attack?
My thinking is that it should be comparable to other big melee attacks if all the hits land on a single target, and that it should be comparable to an AoE attack against five. It could be balanced to a little less than that, given that it is more flexible than a traditional AoE, but it shouldn’t be significantly less than that.

I think part of the low damage on rev is because they see overwhelming odds are efficiently X2 your dps.
However thats not dps, that’s burst damage.
Compared to thief’s its even less burst damage, and right now I feel even squishier then a theif when playing revenant.
So we have less DPS, Burst, and sustainability then Theif?
(edited by KingFarout.1092)
I’d like to add that an idea I came up with, playing with the Rev a bit more. I think we could gain a fair amount of sustainability be lowering the cost of utility 1, as right now jumping in and out of battle with utility’s almost costs as much as an ultimate. I think reducing the endurance gained would also help keep it balanced.
IO however only gives +50% damage, not 2×.
i really enjoy assassin stance with sword main hand and axe offhand… i think its quite a good duelist
that 2s block on sword #4 is sweet. Olso works while moving.
I edited my OP to add a little changes. But overall my feelings stayed consistent throughout the beta weekend.
I still think Revenant is an awesome class though!
