I’m a long time Elementalist main and I decided to try my hand at the Revenant due to a similar idea in concept and because I didn’t have a Heavy class yet.
I wasn’t expecting much, but quickly grew to love it.
Most of the traits feel good, weapons are fun and exciting(for the most part), the Legends are just awesome, and Roy has put in a lot of work and effort and it really shows.

That being said, there were some things I felt were…weak or ineffective and I’d rather we start with the bad stuff and end with the good, so here we go:

Things that might need changing
- Ventari feels kinda weak. The healing is actually nice, but I feel like I can’t use any other skills if I’m gonna use this clunky thing to heal my buddies. I imagine it’s supposed to be slow and clunky, but when my friends are flipping all over the place, it can be difficult to do anything other than predict their movement and use #6. Doesn’t help that Staff is Melee and I’m gonna need to swap Legends often to not blow up or run out of Energy.
- The Ventari line is way too group-focused. There isn’t much reason to pick this line for solo play and I know it’s the “Group Support” line, but it should have a little bit more benefit for yourself.
- Mallyx’s Displacement goes through Stability. I don’t know if this is intentional, but you can VERY easily decap certain nodes in Conquest with little to no counter-play.
- Mallyx’s Embrace the Darkness feels very inconsistent. It’s very powerful when Condi-bombed and you managed to stick on top of your enemy(Unrelenting Assault is funny with this), but otherwise I feel like it’s a tad weak, especially if they have mobility because the range is pathetic.
- Mallyx relies too much on the Resistance trait to not kill himself and the GM traits feel weak(Diabolic Inferno) or too luck reliant(The one that copies conditions).
- Jalis needs a cheaper Stun Break and a cheaper Taunt. 50 Energy to Taunt and Slow someone for 2s is WAY too much. The Stab Road was nerfed a little too hard as well.
- Sword #3 might be a little too powerful; a full 2 second Evade and the amount of damage it can put out is crazy. It might be fine since it’s a lot weaker in team fights though.
- Herald’s GM Shield trait feels weak, but that is due to the fact that Shield #5 is weak. I turn into a sitting duck and it’s far too easy to break the Defiance Bar. My friend actually broke it instantly with the Flesh Golem charge(bug?) and Reaper Shroud #3(might be a bug too?).

That’s all I got to complain about really, everything else about Revenant feels good and right, but I’m gonna point out the things I really enjoyed about the Herald along with a couple things that could be tweaked.

Things Herald did very well
- Facet of Nature is pretty awesome and the burst of boons you can get synergizes very well with our GM trait to have a bit extra damage on the spot.
- The Heal passive is so-so, but the active is amazing. Making it instant-cast allows you to survive mindless bursts very easily. I ran with a Zerker Shiro/Glint build in PvP just to see how I could survive and I actually did pretty decently with it, even with no condi cleanses. Of course, I blew up if I was focused by multiples opponents for a long time, but the Healing active saved me too many times to count and…
- The Elite passive giving you instant Protection is helping for surviving damage spikes, however, I feel the Upkeep is a tad too high and the Active might be just slightly too high CD. Speaking of the active, it’s pretty nice, even if it’s just for an escape(Super Speed) or to enter a fight.
- Facet of Darkness is awesome and Revealing a Thief while in SR is satisfying; they’re always so confused
- The Swiftness Facet(Elements?) was a little lacking, but I found the Weakness pretty useful while fighting on-point.
- The Might stack on the last facet is a little low, but with Shiro and Unrelenting Assault(and Facet of Nature), you can start fights with a very nice amount of Might. The active is a bit too high cast time I feel and it’s hard to tell if I actually hit with it sometimes.

So basically, I LOVED the Herald and I love the Revenant(new main) and my Reaper friend definitely enjoyed being able to start with a decent amount of LF in our pvp matches thanks to all the boons.

Great job.
