Ok, so since pre-ordering Heart of Thorns I have become more active on the forums mostly in regard to Rev.

At I have been seeing is “Remove Weaponswap” and “Why Weaponswap is Good”

So let’s start with why it’s good? Firstly the cry form beta participants sawing it was needed, Roy mentioned that there was a community outcry from those that were lucky enought to be in the beta. At current the only form of a disengage is with the shiro legend however without weapons swap there is no way to continue to apply pressure from a distance. Despite that it’s not designed those looking to spec into mallyx are somewhat forced to use mace/axe or a combination contain at least one to apply any form of condition. Weaponswap fixes these.

Honestly I really don’t understand why it’s bad, I do get that it is a quick fix for a number of problems that the Rev has in regards to gameplay mechanics.

If they were to remove Weaponswap
A good way to “fill the void” would be a redisgn of a legend and the core specs, an example of this would be Mallyx and having his corosponding spec give auto attacks conditions and so on. This gives those wanting to stay back with the hammer the ability to utilise Mallyxs legend and not get punished for using a hammer.

This is all my opinion in the end and I really don’t know how the Rev plays yet so I’m keen to see next weekend with the upcoming beta

Both sides just need to chill out and play the beta before you strike off weither Weaponswap is needed or not, it should also be kept in mind that what is shown and played in the beta is subject to change driven by the feedback given by us the comminuty.

So to both arguments kitten play the beta AND THEN make your judgments

What if I simply want to go melee or ranged according to the situations?
inb4: “make so that legends give you ranged capabilities on melee weapons”
Then what if I want to stay melee and swap legend to regain energy / get fury / get breakstun? The reasons that move weaponswap and legendswap are different. You’re just putting limits to my freedom with those strange mechanics.

You are all free to have your opinion, but all those “suggestions” are just a restricted way to weaponswap, or something that will make revenant a restricted thief (thief can customize healing/utility/elite).

With legendswap and weaponswap as they are, revenant is currently different from any other class.

I don’t get people who say that weaponswap is not original. It’s like saying that Guardian and Thief are the same because they both have weaponswap. It’s a core mechanic in the game, like equipping weapons.
Ele has no weaponswap because already has 20 attunement skills, with weaponswap those would become 40. It’s insane.

I feel like you’ve missed my point and I’m sorry if it wasn’t clear in my initial post
So let me clarify
I’m all for weapon swap.
I’m just saying the only way they could get rev to work without out it would be wither a forced WS or redisgning the trait lines to interact with weapons eg. Creating a legend that makes melee weapons ranged

I was replying to the fact that the other possible option you were suggesting is not good and gives limits to gameplay.
