Solo, rev kinda sucks. Stealth is like mandatory for solo roaming these days.
Group play, PvP meta Invocation rev is great IMO, been using it for weeks. Many viable runes, Strength, Hoelbrak, Scrapper, Leadership, Durability etc.

beepboopbop is not correct. revenents can win alot in solo (i do solo wvw runs as well as zerg runs on revenent 100%). but one of the traits i use has been removed for hotfix, so i havent done much soloing. if you wish to contact me in game. use whitefang.4968 . we can try out different builds together and find one that will be good for you to solo on
I have played at elite all 9 classes per WvW. Revenant is approximately in the middle in terms of suitability for solo roaming. Outstanding is my Engi, he makes Tower easily solo and my thief who has the best mobility. And PU Mesmer naturally.

Yep, Rev isn’t terrible but it isn’t in the top 3 either.
Revenant can have enough mobility and escape-ability while using Staff 5 and Unyiedling Anquish from Mallyx. Pain Absorbtion if you have time to pop it before attempting escape to prevent those clutch ranged immobs. Normally if I’m really in trouble I will pop my Infused light, swap to Mallyx PA, F2, Staff 5/3/4, UA —-varying combos of this depending on situation.
This is all opinion and works for me on a semi-tank Valk/Cav/Celest/zerk mix. I run hammer secondary because you NEED range in wvw.
I run a full zerker rev in WvW roaming with sword/shield+staff invocation/devastation with strength runes (basically the PVP meta build: http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Herald_-_Power_Shiro).
I started roaming with my PVE raid gear (force/air wep sigils) as a semi-joke in off season PVP just to one-shot people with the “combo wombo” for lols, the more I did it I actually realized I can kill almost anyone 1v1 (some are much harder tho like condi mes which is your hard counter) and survive amazingly well even on zerk gear with 16khp, with shield/staff you have very decent sustain with heals/blocks/protection and with Shiro you have nice escapanility from anyone, simply target a remote bird or some other wild animal or far enemy, phase traversal out and even a thief won’t be able to catch up with you (and if he does catch up and you have your CD’s you can kitten him up he he).
The most importent lesson I learned while roaming is that zerker rev is like a great white shark in it’s attack pattern, you get in take a bite and big chunk of the enemy HP, get out, watch them bleed and waste lots of kitten on trying to hurt you (use blocks if they are ranged) then go back in for the kill, with sword/staff your burst potential is insane on zerk, even the tankiest SOB’s can die with 2 good bursts timed properly.

Bit of a thread necro, but I’m interested to hear how/if Rev has changed in WvW.
I’m thinking of playing it a bit more seriously and am weighing my build options. I usually play power/shiro/glint but that’s not going to cut it, since I’m not good enough to run a glass cannon like that. I’ve had luck supporting groups instead, but input from experienced players would be great. Ideally I’d like to keep my sword and Glint, since I adore both, but other than that I’m not too sure. Unfortunately my armour is and will likely have to stay exotic, but my trinkets and weapons are ascended, so I feel like I have to potential to do well with my Rev, with a bit of help from you fine folk
Rev has poor disengage potential and is vulnerable to condi and thieves, the top specs for roaming. It also has an unfavorable match up against warrior, the other apex roaming spec in wvw beside thief and PU condi mesmer.
Stick to zergs and larger squads where your boon sharing shines.
Thank-you, this has been my experience so far as well. At a first glance Rev seems to have passable mobility, but it’s locked behind legend and weapon swap. Swapping legends is definitely part of the playstyle, and I reckon it separates a good Revenant from a great one, but other classes seem to not be quite so held back by their own mechanics. My other main is a warrior, and I’ve never felt at odds with its class mechanics. When I die on the warrior, it’s usually a spectacular death. On my Rev, it’s usually because I spent too much time out of attack range trying to even the playing field, while waiting for a combination of available skills/legend swap and an opening for counter attack.
I love the Rev though, so I am OK running a support build for my team mates and keeping them up. In terms of stat combinations, would anyone care to recommend something? Maybe zerker mixed with a few defensive stats to bolster my HP by a few thousabd points?
I actually sometimes roam on hammer/staff glass herald. It’s good and bad. You can absolutely crush a fight or get pecked to death. Or you can peck a fight or get crushed. It’s very volatile which I find exhilarating.

I had a quick look at the first vid and took notes on your use of the hammer, and especially on how you chain dodges, shiro two and hammer three. I do have a question though and perhaps I’m missing something: you have 16.8k hp in your glass build, my Rev with full zerker and (apparently) no buffs has just over 17k. I’ve actually not jumped into wvw just now to check it there, but is the difference maybe something ANet do to scale stats in pvp? It’s just a silly thing that was bugging me with an obvious answer I think. Anyway, nice vids and a refreshing musical choice.
wvw gives bonuses, in particular +% life and if near a claimed objective +vita. So my health pool will vary to as much as 19k.
Base HP for revenant is 15,922. If you use a vitality runeset it will take you to 17,672 in spvp. I was using berserker amulet during season but on reflection I would recommend marauder for both needed hp and to bring precision over 90%.
