I main a Reaper now that elites are out, but Revenant also has my attention for multiple reasons (the concept, the lore, the interesting combat mechanics) but I like Bruiser builds quite a lot and I have… Well. No idea whether there’s a build like that for Revenant. (Take a look at my signature for my Reaper build to get an idea of my tastes more specifically)

But, I do like the idea of a Soldier/Scrapper rune type build for Rev/Herald

I too enjoy that style of gameplay and my “main” is also Reaper…tanked up and he owns! But have you tried Death Magic? If you really want to be “tanky” and tough then DM is they way to go, and drop Spite or SR if you don’t use Shroud much but as a Reaper using RS is one of our extra perks!
For my Rev I have gone with Soldier gear and Brawler runes. So far not bad in HoT but haven’t fully unlocked herald so more to come I reckon. Its my 2nd Rev as I thought having a Asura one would be kinda fun and cool, and it is.
My other Rev is full Herald and I must say, they are just what you would like so go for it!!

I did play around with Death Magic some, but find I enjoy the extra oomph provided by Spite, so I guess my “flavor” of build is more Bruiser than Tank. So, that style for a Revenant

One of the fun things about Revenant is that you can wear dps gear and still have good survivability, with a combination of heals, evades, etc.

I run Glint/Jalis with Hammer/Sword/shield, which I think you would like, with marauder/berserkyrie gear and the invocation/devastation/herald lines. You could easily adjust how tanky you want to be by swapping in the retribution line for one of the others, or for going with a more balanced armor set. Eventually I want to put together a set of wanderer or crusader gear for that purpose

I’ve mained Necro since I started playing about a year ago.. dps isn’t my main focus xD lol But Rev does seem like it has potential with my playstyle. Just gotta get used to the rotations and everything, I think.

Any advice for leveling a Rev? Hammer/Sword/Axe and Devestation/Invocation?

I mained necro for awhile, it’s slightly different, but overall more enjoyable to me due to more dps for one, and far more teamplay with glint once you get it unlocked. Also the traits in general are better.

But as always, just see for yourself. it’s got it’s own playstyle for sure and that feels different from almost anything else.

I like invocation first for the Condi cleanse and stun break.

I would also get impossible odds as soon as you can, even if you don’t plan to use Shiro long term, IO is the best tool you will have while leveling for moving across maps quickly, or avoiding combat if you wish.

Berserker, with scholar or strength runes.

This is only for dungeons (which thankfully people stopped farming), and fractals.

I would suggest that the OP waits for raids, which are coming very soon, and create his gear according to what works well in there. Assuming he is gonna be doing raids, that is.

Which gear it’s better for maguuma events? Soldier or berserker?

Berserker is fine provided you keep distance when you need to and use your active defenses when you need to. Occasionally I make a mistake and get roflstomped, but I usually know exactly what I did wrong in those circumstances or what I should have done differently. But the truth of the matter is, if you play poorly in the new areas, there are regular enemies that will eat you alive, and I’m not sure having soldier gear would help all that much if you can’t adjust your play to the enemy types as needed.

I would take a look at Marauder if that is feasible for you.

Thanks!

Where is the marauder set? I didn’t found it in the TP? Is only drop or karma or something like that? (Sorry, I’m quite new to the game, I just hit 80 today witht the rev)

My guildmates craft me a full berserker gear =D, but I feel like my HP pool it’s a bit low compared with marauder amulet that I use on PVP. Where I can find that set gear?

You can check this build for PvE, I’ve used it and works great.
You can always use exotic versions, of course its lesser stats, but works great nonetheless!

As for Devastation trait line, you can always swap Assassin’s Annihilation for Swift Termination for more DPS, I personally use assassin’s trait to stay up in the champ’s face AAing with sword, along with doing a bit more dmg per hit I do on them. Just learn on timing the evasion skills/blinds, really makes things easier.
