I’m new to this class, currently at lvl63, but i’d like advice on what i should really spec into. At the moment i’ve narrowed things down to Shiro/Mallyx as i want to be a damage dealer, and i’m actually enjoying mace skills for the first time ever! Thing is i’ve heard Mallyx is a complete writeoff? Have to say the torment damage looks pretty great and i love using Unyielding Anguish (wish my necro could get something similar…), but should i just quit the Mallyx line and swap it out for Glint when i get it? Thoughts?

Edit: I PvE and PvP. Never really done WvW.

Imo it depends on what you will do ingame- A lot of PvE? WvW? PvP?

I leveled my Rev up with Shiro/Mallyx abaout 3 months ago. But it feels some kind of incomplete till i got Glint. I used Shiro only for travelling.

In PvE now i’m running Glint/Shiro (Non Raid Content). Honestly for the trash and during a farmtrain i’m often camping on Glint all the time. No need for a complete dmgrota including a stance swap into Shiro and back. Just need this for great hitboxes or bosses in the storylines. I play with fullzerk. For me this works fine.

Tryed also Mallyx for PvE after the latest buff, but for me Torment does not work well in PvE. In PvP it’s pretty nice because Players seems to move a lot more around like mobs, so Torment can do some good damage. I use for PvP/WvW the same build Mallyx/Glint. Sometimes i use Jalis for Glint. This works for me but i think other players can give better advice for PvP/WvW, i do not play it often.

PvE:
Once you unlock Glint, you’ll be using it with Shiro/Mallyx. Condi works okay in some PvE areas like SW or the HoT zones where mobs tend to move more, and it does fine in fractals/raids too, but Power is best for trash mobs and such.

“Rotation” is just Auto Attack with some Sword 2 thrown in here and there, maybe using Shiro’s quickness+AA if you feel like swapping. Otherwise you upkeep Glint’s facets till your energy runs out (use the Swiftness and Might one for extra damage off CD). Oh, and Staff (which should be your OH most of the time) has Surge of the Mists (skill 5) that destroys boss breakbars, so use that when possible.

PvP: Goes either way. Mallyx’ condi pressure, group resistance, and boonstrip can make it a decent team-fighter while Shiro gives additional mobility to chase enemies or +1 better. You’ll likely have to use either with Glint.

Ventari’s an option if you want to Bunker and explode the tablet to annoy people.

WvW: Glint+Mallyx for Buffs and Resistance spam with Pain Absorb really helps groups push through the waves upon waves of condi AoE and gives others time to cleanse and/or counter. Shiro is alright for roaming. Jalis can grant further damage reduction if your group already has a Mallyx Revenant dedicated to pulsing resistance.

So the general consensus seem sto be that Glint is mandatory then?

I’m going to note firstly that I am an average player so do bear this in mind as someone with more experience may disagree…
In short I find that Glint is really useful both for condi and for power when either alone or in small groups (fractal/skirmish wvw). You provide lots of boons to yourself and others, can unload a load of conditions with and vulnerability, and the heal can be a get out of jail free card.
In larger groups Glint becomes less useful though such as in zergs or coordinated teams because these boons will be covered by others. At this point I find Mallyx and Jalis to be really useful as they provide things others don’t (stone ritual/pulsing resistance).
In projectile heavy areas though, Ventari is a lifesaver! If you want to do damage, sure there are other classes that can do more and yes torment is more useful against people rather than trash but you can do well.
If you have a chronomancer with you Shiro becomes weaker as the quickness from them can free up other stances to take.
Revs have a lot of versatility and it depends a lot on party composition really but for solo I do find Glint strong, and in groups you have other options. (Turns out it wasn’t that short )
