Just wanted to drop a quick post about the Revenant:
I think the profession is in a very good spot right now. Everything was quite smooth and had a good feel to it, and the class has a good balance of advantage and counters. Thanks for creating such a fun class Roy, and to your team! It’s nicely done!

Well it’s very true…at every iteration the rev felt better and better..i dont mean OP just balanced, fun, and smooth…we are almost there…can wait to play my new main <3

I really love how active the Revenant is and the micro-management. Keeps the game and pvp very fresh. Thank you!

Roy, I’ll be bluntly honest when I say this.

I really was on the fence about the Revenant. Then I finally got to try Herald, and I went from “meh” to “well, this is now one of my favorite play styles I’ve ever played in over 15 years of MMO gaming.”

You, sir, and the rest of the design team that had input in the Herald’s design, have done a superb job.

Revenant essentially combines the awesome aspects that make the “bard” archetype fun, while combining martial art themes, as well as feeling like resource management is actually rewarded.

To provide an example: In Everquest in its glory days, spell casters could really “out perform” other classes in terms of raw power, but they paid for it by having to manage their resources. Could a Wizard instantly kill a monster in 3 spells or less? Sure, but that might be blowing through 3 minutes worth of mana, while melee classes could be consistently damaging foes. Fast forward to Revenant, and now we have the same mechanics of “do i go all out, or pace myself, flight slow to build up resources, or blow stuff now and change stances?”

These kinds of moment to moment gameplay choices were happening all the time while I was playing Revenant, and I hope sincerely that these types of choices can be infused into the Elementalist and Engineer at some point. Right now, there ARE times when it makes sense to camp vs swap on cool down on Revenant, but I feel that, even with the Tempest, there is never a benefit to camping an Attunement (outside of my support ele which camps water and earth).

Kuddos to you and the rest of the team. You guys really hit the nail on the head with Herald, and I hope you continue to iterate on Tempest to really provide the engaging gameplay choices that I enjoyed while playing the Herald!

Well said. I described Herald the other day as Swiss Army knife with a bunch of tools to do different things. I love the Revenant for the flexibility to handle various situations and aid a group in a multitude of ways depending on what is needed at a given time.

I enjoyed Rev so much this beta. It feels wonderful and complete. All the previous betas it felt off, but it was getting closer. Even considering the issues in the early stress test I still felt it was a class with much potential. Now it feels like it has realized that potential and I can see it having a GREAT spot in pve. It’s nice to look forward to being useful and wanted for once. Though I’m still praying for druid to work out, but I kind of don’t have much hope there. But maybe I will be surprised, who knows…

Anyway, thanks for listening Roy and doing such awesome things with the Revenant.

Seconded! I loved playing Revenant over the weekend, but I also love my Ranger. Just, not as much as the Revenant. I need something to tip the favor towards Ranger again!

I agree with the original poster, Revenant is easily my favorite class right now.
I think it could still use some tweaks… in particular some of the utility skills for Jalis and Shiro could still be improved, as well as some of the traits throughout all their specializations.
But overall it’s an amazing class that’s very fun to play, and Herald really brought it all together.

Been a long road since first revenant test Things are coming together. Now to hope Engie won’t disappoint as that’s my main xD (and rev new)

I absolutely hated the Revanent. You can check my post history and see how hard a time I gave Roy. I gave it another shot with Herald and wooooooo I love it now. It all came together perfectly, thank you

Also giving the Revenant another main-hand would be great ! Especially scepter, kinda like that of the guardian (not all skills are projectiles). That way, we’d have more variety and have some more FUN!

Me and quite a few guildies are thinking about rolling revenants or heralds, it went from “meh” to “holykitten Gertrude! look at this kittening beauty!”. Nice job.

Yeh I’m still stuck between rolling my necro as my main or my Revenant (which brought me back to GW2) but I will say Roy is my favorite dev cause I’ve pvped with him in game and he listens to the kitten the community has to say

Great job. I was a little disappointed after BWE1, but I held my breath and crossed my fingers for BWE2, and you and your team certainly delivered. I really can’t wait for HoT now to spend all my tomes on my Rev and start to main it! The animations, the group support, the damage, the whole feel and theme of the class is fantastic.

I’ll probably even go for my second world completion on my Revenent, which is a big deal for me (i’m super lazy)

P.S. The people saying that Rev is OP in SPvP, people also said that Hundred Blades was op on release. Now look at it. People will adapt. Hint: Rev is weak to condis.

I think one of the most striking things is how much it’s improved since the very first revenant betas. To be fair, when you’ve got an entirely new profession rather than adding a new facet to an existing profession you’ve got much more opportunity to demonstrate improvement, but it’s clear that you’ve been taking on board the feedback from internal and external testing and used it to make changes that have drastically enhanced the experience. Kudos!

I don’t chime in much, if ever, but I have to say – this should be viewed as the gold standard of how a class and changes are developed in an MMO. Job (nearly) done, Roy – fantastic effort, mate.

I guess I should thank everyone involved in the making of Revenant as well, cause I just found my perfect class. Definitely gonna main it anywhere pvp is concerned, second main for pve after reaper, even might end up beating reaper to it honestly
