Personally finding Revanent Lackluster..
Yeah, same here. Revenant is kinda squishy before 80. I’m now on level 80 and I still find Rev to be lacking something. I’m using sword & shield / hammer for ranged, Glint/Jallis. Aaaaaaaand, it’s ok-ish? I guess?
I see nothing awesome in Revenant. I’ve no problem to survive in PVE (full marauder set and weapons) and I don’t lack power, but I’m not 100% sure that my build is good. At all. Revenant is just not my style. It hurts that you can’t switch skills and have f.e. two skills from Herald and two from Jallis. Ok to play, but far from my favourite.
EDIT: I can’t remember, but I think I went up to 80 with Demon Stance and Mace/Axe. Condi is fine for leveling, imo. And it’s a lot of AoE.

Agreed same but scaling still seems really out for lower players, not sure why they made the level experience so grindy with revenant..
What bugged me the most about leveling my rev was the lack of movement speed. Only Glint and Shiro have movement-speed skills, that’s why I probably used Shiro and Mallyx when leveling. Impossible Odds was weird on the other hand, first you move really slow, you pop IO and move really fast, then go back to normal movement which at this point feels like crawling… I was so happy when I got Superior Speed Runes. I was even more happy when I unlocked Facet of Elements.
Sonya for females. (necro,rev,ranger,mes,engi)
All classes lvl 80.

Really???? I had no trouble moving around maps as Revenant while levelling. I put a sigil of speed on both weapon sets. With those and phase traversal i was moving around at dizzying speeds.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
Core Revenant is kinda bad. Jalis and Ventari dont really serve well in Pve, espeically without the traitline (and an entire build for it, probably) for the latter’s case. Mallyx is okay at best, but Shiro+Jalis tends to be enough to get by.
When it comes to movement, Ive never really had an issue with it thanks to Phase Travel and Axe OH’s jump or IO when there’s no target to double ump to. I really never bothered with mace since it truly shines in condition builds, and torment is really weak in PvE (burns are okay though, but most trash can be powered through quicker with Sword).
I just got to 80 on my second Revenant, and I think I found a build that I really enjoyed and is viable in PVE. I use mace/axe/hammer with Mallyx and Glint. I use rabid gear and run a full condition build. So far, I am loving it and have no problems with dying. The conditions he applies are staggering and more than I ever did with my necro/reapers.
Maybe you’ll enjoy it!
It’s a concept I can’t get my head around. I think there are not enough choices (weapons specifically). The few choices you do get are too constricting (Legends) or just lack interesting effects (staff is just WHAT!). Definitely the profession with the fewest number of build options in the game.
I have to admit though that the build I have settled upon for the content I do is quite reasonable. I didn’t level it traditionally, but I can see where someone might struggle leveling without the good traits.
Yeah, I tried Revenant from before HoT release (betas) until about a month ago, then switched. I liked the idea of being energy-limited, but in practice I found the Rev to be managing cooldowns mainly, just like everyone else except Thief … consequently, I switched to Thief.
But by no means did I find the Revenant ineffective. Hammer is devastating in a glassy build, and sword is very good for dueling. I just didn’t find those weapons to be fun to use. I enjoyed the mobility of Shiro but found the Shiro utilities to be fairly situational (PvP/WvW). I played Rev quite a bit from October through February, but I am now very much enjoying Thief. The initiative gives me the ‘energy management’ I wanted in Revenant.
Astaxanthas (Revenant), Hepaticus (Engineer), Eosinophus (Thief)

Thats very similar to myself, probably not efficient but it seems the fastest and strongest i’ve found to use in PvE.

Yes to me thief is a far superior revenant.. I know that sounds odd but it makes sense when you think about it.

I’m on quite the opposite spectrum. I’ve switched to Revenant as a main, and haven’t switched back since.
And Dante…. seriously? Thief is far superior? Ask that in the Thief forums. :p
Every class lacks a ton of things until level 80/elite spec. I highly recommend getting to 80/elite spec and then making a judgement on it.
