HI i pretty much soloQ 95% of the time and like to play Rev occasionally along with my Scrapper and DH.

I know Rev is weak to condi and really shines when you have a good support class player in your team. So my question is for SoloQ since you cannot be sure what your team comp is going to be and what support you may get, whats the best SoloQ build for power Rev.

Ive seen Metabattle but i assume that is META when in the right team comp.

For example should i run Sigils of Generoisty and Purity on both weapon sets and also Hoelbrak runes instead of strength runes. Should i go Invocation for the condi clean on legend swap? That would mean losing stability on dodge is a whole other mess with the AOE CC flying around?

Thanks

The meta power Rev with Shiro/Glint should, more often than not, be trying to be support itself. It works just fine soloQ; you want to be hitting up team and mid fights to hand out dem boons while being able to pressure a target with steady AA damage and some burst. It’s a more than capable solo duelist (player depending, ofc) and mobile enough to do both in a match, but you should probably be prioritizing team fights a bit more – especially if the team comp comes up short of other support like Druid or Tempest.

That said, condi is indeed the big weakness for this build, and if you’re really feeling too vulnerable I’d leave the sigils and runes alone and swap Invocation in for Retribution. Remember that you lose stab on dodge but you do get stunbreak on legend swap, which will help make the tradeoff a bit better.

Thanks…..i really do like that stability on dodge though. I guess i will test to see how much of a ping pong ball i end up without it.

You’ll probably find yourself using Shiro’s escape (and possible also close, too) more. Remember too that Glint has a stun break on turning over Facet of Darkness. I’d also suggest you test replacing shield with axe or offhand sword – Crystal Hibernation does much less healing these days, and it’s a block but it’s a rooted block, which can get you killed as much as it saves you. Axe 4 will teleport you to your target even if you’re immobilized (you stay immobilized, but it still moves you) and 5 is pull CC; Sword 4 is a block and Sword 5 is a shadowstep retreat + pull, which requires a hit but will also teleport you backwards when immobilized, so in a pinch it could get you out of AoE madness in a fight.

Thats good to know. Thanks!

As in using the skill after Facet of Darkness.

Turn over Facet of Darkness → Now you have access to a stun break

The whole issue with condis, its like the people who created the class didnt learn anything from thief. They used the same thief must be trash against condis logikittenil it nearly destroyed the class, then they had to go as far as add in condi removal on evade as well as basically turn acro into an anti condi line.

Condi is so integrated into combat and so dangerous that no class should be built with such bad options for cleanse, most especially power builds. You can have less condi removal options on power rev then other classes but to put virtually none?

I still think the best anti condi skill they can give to rev that wont be broken is an upkeep skill that converts condis into boons. It can drain 10 energy/sec but at least it wont leave you wondering where to run when there are builds in the area that can relentlessly hit you with so many damaging conditions.

Well i decided to switch to Condi Mallyx Rev instead of Power Rev for my SoloQ/DuoQ games and i am doing much….Much……MUCH better.

Doesn’t matter if my team doesn’t have any support classes, i can 1v1 and team fight and with all the necros/mesmers out there i can negate a huge amount of their damage. Plus give party wide Resistance to my team at mid fights to help mitigate some of the initial enemy condi burst.

Don’t get me wrong i really like power rev but if i dont have a friendly Ele that knows what he/she is doing i tend to die quickly to condi bombs in this current AOE condi meta.

Again i’m still messing around in lower tiers since i started the Season late and i only pvp ranked a few games every couple days so disclaimer could be im just not experienced enough with power rev.

“The best way to fight conditions is to not get hit by them.” – that quote from metabattle.com sounds like a joke when you start with the Revenant class but it’s basically what you need to do.

As an average player in SoloQ I would not give up Retribution with all it’s passive damage mitigation and stability on dodge for a cleanse of 1 condition on legend swap. If you master the class and know how to constantly avoid condi or power bursts you can give up Retribution and pick Invocation but thats more for the damage increase than for the condi removal.

yea i tried invocation too instead of retribution, but find out that even the little dmg boost it gives is not compensating at all the fact that you are constantly cced/dazed in a team fight, and loosing dps by that.
Also, i prefer retribution just only for the capacity of a fast stomp, wich is crucial in a team fight after killing fast their necro while your noob necro teammate went down too at the same time. Won a lot of team fight thx to retribution cuz by beeing melee on the target going down, i was faster to stomp than the other team.

So my idea is: if you are playing at high MMR with teammates who knows what they are doing, you can try invocation, if you are stuck in MMR hell and you actualy need to carry your teammates, then retribution is much better.
