Been using this build with a lot of success pre-Herald in WvW for Roaming (and Maguuma for that hellish wasteland of ridiculous PvE)

Mace/Axe with Hammer swap
use Jalis 7 plus hammer 3 for moving aroun, Jalis 7 for trivializing break bars, and then Mallyx for most all other needs. Full Dire Set, and Scavenger Runes.
Why Rapid Lacerations, I thought it’s only while wielding a sword? :-)
/\ yea you need to switch to ferocious strikes with mace/Axe and you will see a big difference. Right now your forfeiting damage by using rapid lacerations and no sword. Or you can switch to sword.
