Any advice people can offer would be much appreciated. XD

I’m primarily a PvE player – I honestly don’t care too much about PvP or WvW, so building for those is not too important to me. What I DO want to do is create a durable Revenant for PvE, one I can run in HoT areas without feeling like every random enemy is going to squish me. (My main character, a Zerker Elementalist, is… not exactly super-durable.)

I haven’t unlocked Herald – character’s still pretty new – but plan to do so in the nearish future.

With that in mind, does anyone have some advice on gear? I’m currently thinking about:

Armor: Sentinel gear (Vit/Pow/Tough), with Runes of Exuberance (+Vit, Convert Vit to Pow/Heal/Pre)
Accessories: Laurel-vendor stuff, maybe with Soldier (Pow/Vit/Tough) traits. Either that or back to Sentinel.
Weapons: Hammer and Sword/Shield. Not sure which will be my main.

Stances will probably be Shiro and Glint (once unlocked).

Does this seem likely to work for what I’m trying to do, or…?

I’m a big fan of marauder and use berserkyrie trinkets. Between that, shield offhand (once you get access) and evades on sword and hammer, you can avoid or mitigate a lot of damage.

Understand something, going too far toward the defensive side is going to be frustrating. The longer it takes to take enemies out, the more damage they are going to do to you. Marauder is a nice compromise with rev high base health and active defenses. You can adjust it a bit further with retribution trait line or with soldier trinkets as needed.

But when it comes to HoT, you have to adjust to the enemies or else they will eat you alive regardless of what gear you have

I leveled mine with sword/axe and staff, Shiro/jalis in zerk gear. Unlocked devastation first then invocation and then retribution. Gave me plenty of mobility to avoid the big hits and lots of damage to kill things quick.

I am midway through unlocking Herald but won’t make the switch until I max out the line.

Be careful what you wish for, Anet might just give it to you “HoT”
